mouse scroll wheel question

i have a generic mouse with no software included. the problem is that one notch on the scroll wheel will scroll too much on the web page. is there any way to have one notch on the scroll wheel scroll less

Assuming your using XP, look here:

Control Panel > Mouse > Wheel tab

thats what i thought too but i don't see a wheel tab

Huh, strange. If you're comfortable poking around the registry you can do it this way instead.

1) Open regedit and navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
2) Find WheelScrollLines and edit it to the desired number of lines to scroll per roll of the wheel.
3) Reboot.

thanks.. that worked but is there any way to put the wheel tab back on there. why isn't it even there
