I had a Logitech cordless MX duo keyboard and mouse that I used for years. The mouse kind of started acting weird on me and burned through the rechargable batteries really quickly (even brand new sets...), and the charger station was always a little wonky (you'd have to position the mouse "just so" in order to get it to charge).

I've since been using a $9 microsoft corded mouse which has done me fine but is a bit lacking.

For Christmas i got a wired apple keyboard (love it) and am now looking for a new mouse and wanted to know what's a good one to go with. I don't want one of those ZOMG 1337 gaming mice with the flashing LEDs, overclocking fans and radar displays on it. Something simple, wireless, reliable with a good feel for general computing usage is what I'm after.

I love my Logitech USB G3 laser mouse. It ambidextrous - as I am with mousing. With a RATPADZ GS mouse pad it's a great gaming set up IMO.

In fact I'm looking for good deals for another set up plus another USB Microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard.

I'd love to find a reasonably priced KVM switch that would accommodate the above listed peripherals, plus a 5.1 sound system. Preferably will handle 2 computer set ups with dual monitor support.
Asking for a lot - I know...

I'd say to go for the OCZ Equalizer. Newegg.com keeps running out of stock on it, as they're selling em for $20 (after a $10 instant rebate), and they just can't seem to get them in fast enough. I haven't used the notebook version, but it's still up for $25 (again, after that instant rebate).

Excellent mouse, I own one and gave another to a friend for Christmas. Excellent tracking, excellent build, crappy software, excellent price.

....It's wired, though....

Not sure why people are recommending wired "gaming" mice when the OP specifically requested against it.

The best options are those masteryoda34 already mentioned (MX Rev and MX 1100), if those options are too expensive then its pretty much a crapshoot.

doh, $130 on kb/mouse... ahh... i just jumped on the Logic MX Revolution combo set... amazon has it for $126.98 shipped. Had a $100 gc for J&R so I price matched it there and got it for about $30 shipped I guess (but then again, I gave my brother $100 for x-mas and he gave me a $100 J&R gc he got... so basically I paid $130 for this, it seems).
