Mouse Recommendations?

I am in the market for a new mouse for my office. I am looking at the Logitech MX310, MX400 and the Microsoft Intelimouse N50. Are lasers really better than optical? The idea of a tilt wheel sounds nice for horizantal scrolling, but do they make vertical scrolling more difficult?

I am looking for a mouse that is smooth, precise with programable buttons for web browsing, application closing, etc. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Optical is better for gaming, generally. Look over at ESreality's website and see the mouse comparisons. I choose the DeathAdder, and I've got no regrets other than a scroll fault.

Tilt wheels generally don't affect vertical scrolling, but they make middle-clicking harder. Generally horizontal scrolling isn't really needed anyway (at least for gaming; photoshop users/coders may disagree here), so I set my tilt wheel to make up for the lost side button of my old G5 and a replacement middle click.

Unless the kind of tilt-wheel you were thinking of was a non-click type of tilt wheel. Logitech's tilt wheels are more like... side buttons on the middle button.

I like my MX610. It's not overly big and takes AA batteries. I like it so much that I bought the updated version MX620 (well, also because I dumped my Logitech wireless keyboard at the same time as well).

Get a mx 518 , best mouse ever

goes to 1000hz easy,, and no annoying middle button that MAY or may Not do side clicks on its own , That is really the biggest plus

I've never understood the on the fly thing. Thats on every mouse though, so that feature can't be used to differentiate between the choices

LEARN to LOVE the middle button, ONEEEE BUTTON.

On the fly speed control is very useful in games.

wasn't aware that all mouse can adjust the sensitivity on the fly. comes in very use full in games. I usually play Arma, and i can slow it down for player movement and speed it up for when im a mounted gun position for instance. All without leaving the game.

Not every mouse can do that, most actually can't. And most that do are software based meaning you have to install some special software and have it running in the background all the time to do the of the fly thing. Some like the logitech mx518 are hardware based so its good to go without any extra software or anything.....

i use the g5. not really sure if its that much better than the mx518 but if you do get a g5, get the newer model. I got the older model first and i had some scoll wheel problems. The new model fixes those problems
