Mouse Problems

I have a MX300 by Logitech and i have a Func Pad (surface 1030) but i'm having problems with my mouse. when my mouse is sitting still it skips around the screen and i'm not sure why.

1) The FuncPad is CLEAN (repeatedly, free of dust, and it happens on both the smooth and rough side)
2) The Mouse is clean.
3) The mouse has been replaced with another MX300 (i returned the Mouse thinking that was the problem)
4) USB and PS2 have been used and the problem Persists
5) Using the newest Logitech Drivers (mw9.76) yet no success.
6) Tried with older drivers (9.75) with the same problem
7) My friend has the EXACT same setup (we bought the funcpads and mice the same time) and he has NO problems with his mouse

an example of when this happens:
When i'm watching a movie with windows media player the taskbar will appear cause the mouse pointer will have moved despite the fact that clearly the mouse has not physically moved

Has anyone had this problem with the mouse or mousepad (or both)? And if you have any suggestions other than the top 7 points above, please do suggest, thank you! 🙂

My MX700 does this when the batteries are getting low. I installed logitechs newest drivers, installed the MouseWares advanced Setting utility, changed the pointer and selected office compatible and the problem went away.
But when the batteries are really low it acts funny.

not really a fix, but one way to test it:

Flip your mouse upside down when watching a movie and see if it still does it. I have a optical mouse that I do that with because of it's sensitivity to any kind of movement.
