Mouse pointer froze

A few days ago, my mouse pointer froze on the display, but the mouse was still functional. In other words, I could still move and use the mouse, except the pointer stayed in place. This happened after reboot maybe two or three times.

I don't have a problem with the mouse pointer now, but since the problem above, Windows takes almost two minutes to finish booting!

I did some searching on the web, and found some old info about nVidia drivers causing this issue. I don't think that's the cause though because I haven't changed the driver in many months, and why would the video driver affect boot time?

Any thoughts?

If you suspect the video driver (which sounds resonable to me) then you should try installing another one. If you have the latest try a previous version.

Drivers affect boot time because each driver has to perform some initalization. This often involves waiting for hardware to respond. If the hardware fails to respond in the manner expected then the driver usually waits some predetermined amount of time before it continues.

Thanks! I will try another driver version. If it is indeed the video driver, I wonder why it suddenly became a problem when it had worked fine for many months.
