Mouse Pauses

I have a regular, couple of years old Microsoft Intellemouse laser mouse, the really generic one that has worked fine for me. It has started pausing every once and a while, maybe once every 10-20 minutes, and only for about a second. Also, once every hour or two it somtimes just turns off, and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I am hoping it is just the mouse, but am wondering if it could also be the usb port on my mobo.

Thanks for any replies

I have that same mouse I think. 5 buttons? Its done that to me before, its usually not the mopuses fualt.

That mouse has lasted me five years so far!

I have tried other ports, same thing, and I think I have the even more generic one than you aet, but yeah they do seem to be pretty reliable, I hope mines not dying

Like ITMpls said , the easiest way to narrow it down is if you try it on another PC. It's almost definitely the mouse if it does the same on another machine.
