The problem is more than one thing for me. I have limited vision at times and the box popping up in really small text on my monitor just gets in the way. Plus if I end up going to a screen reader like Jaws it will nothing but wreak havoc.

Also - in a forum like FS/FT how is it beneficial if you have multiple things for sale - some people top post their items then others bottom post items with terms/conditions first. Is it for saving mouse clicks?

I believe that the "KISS" example for business and coding should be applied here.

Is there a Mobile Skin for ATOT? If not, that should be addressed, ASAP. It would be good for Mobile market, and also for limited vision.

I'd use it just to get away from the popups. :)

I'd definitely like it better with the pop up only appearing when you hover over the text. Having the pop up follow you into the thread is annoying.

It's so noticeable/annoying, that as soon as I login, I remember to check this thread... before I read what I was really trying to read.

Hah.

I think they changed it a bit. You can now hover over # of posts or no of views, without generating a preview.

That's better, and thanks ops.

Do feel free to actually, interact with us...

It's always been like that. If you hover in the "Last Post" column you get a pop up showing # of replies & views.
If you hover over the "Replies" or "Views" columns there never have been pop ups

I think Zorkorist is correct. If I hover in the "Last Post" column I don't get a pop up showing # of replies & views. I get "Go to first unread post in thread..." IIRC there were pop ups in the reply/views columns that showed numbers of replies/views - I thought they were redundant and now they're gone.

edit: ah, you both could be right depending on whether you're outside of a category or inside.

Seriously - what exactly does it provide? Does it prevent something or add something? Is the goal to prevent mouse clicks? If users aren't opening posts and clicking links then they are not using the detonator link hijacker/breaker/tracker.

I don't know
I get pop ups hovering over the last post column with both FF3.6 & IE8 & nothing in the other 2 columns.
It doesn't show but my mouse is just to the right of the subscribe checkmark

Thus my edit. :) I was on the forum main index page and the last post column there doesn't get the replies/views numbers. Sorry. :(

It's better, but the guy who said <a> above, had the right thing to say,

Popping up on white space, is just WRONG.

Those pop ups are annoying enough that I found this thread while looking for a way to turn them off.

I agree with this. Simply having the mouse in the whitespace of the thread title shouldn't cause a pop-up. I would be super sweet if it only happened when mousing over the thread title. I like the feature, so it would suck to disable it with greesemonkey, but some sort of user config. option would be really nice.

I don't undertand the hesitation in fixing this.

I can hover over your advertisements, and nothing pops up.

I can hover over the forum list and nothing pops up.

I hover over the forum, the content, and ya'll feel I should read BIGGER.

If you think your average visitor doesn't understand a pleasant experience, and you can take advatage of them, then I guess I am gone.

I came here because it was a highly rated site.

If anyone remembers the old forum, then they will know ther were no popups, and the forum list (er excuse me, place to advertise) on the LEFT! was not there.

Anand... please bring it back, closer to how it was.

If you want a settlement, I would agree to forum list on the right.

Pop ups over text.

It's rare that I will leave a forum I become involved with, but, your obtrusive interface, blatant advertising, will cause me to leave this forum.

We've discussed this...

I'm not going to run scripts, to fix a forum.

A forum, is a forum, is a forum.
