I'm using Windows XP with SP2. My Mice is Logitech's MX-518. I am not currently using Logitech's SetPoint software for the Mice in question because I never really needed it (perhaps now I might need it though, that's what you guys helping me might come up with as a conclusion).
Alright, I'll try to make it clear enough, I'm not sure how to explain the issue...
You know the default settings for Mouse movement sensitivity in Windows ? That controls the speed at which the Mouse cursor moves on the screen according to how much you physically move the mouse ? Well, it will sometime simply, suddenly out of nowhere loose some of its sensitivity. Let's say I browse the web, and then use the wheel to scroll pages, well it works well and all, but sometimes it will just do that, as I said, loose some sensitivity, and I will then have to increase the sensitivity in the control panel for the Mouse movement, then if I apply, the movement is "as before" again...
But even though it works in the Desktop, the sudden "slower" movement is still affecting my games. I mean, if I increase the settings for higher sensitivity after the issue occur, to compensate, then as I said it works as a temporary fix, but only in Desktop activities. Because as soon I as try any games then the movement is very slow once more (mostly noticeable in first-person-shooters). I know I'm repeating myself here but I'm not sure how else I can explain this. My previous mouse was MX-310, again without any software from Logitech, but it never did that.
Is it a known issue in Windows ? Do I absolutely have to use Logitech's SetPoint ? (I would think that such software is only good if I need to assign specific Mice buttons to specific functions). I need some help, please. I want to fix it, I'm kind of tired to reboot the system each times it happens to get the default speed back both in the Desktop and my games, until the issue occurs again ...
