Mouse issue

I have a Kensington Mouse-In-A-Box optical pro thing, and it worked fine for 5 or 6 months I think, maybe more, but in the last 2 weeks it's gone funny.

When moving it about, it suddenly stops working randomly, it won't move the cursor and none of the buttons work, like it's been unplugged, but since the LED still shines red I guess it's still connected (recieving power).
I tried blowing on the USB port and the USB lead end bit to see if there was dust somehow causing it to be "disconnected" from the computer, but it didn't stop the problem, although it almost seemed less frequent in stopping.

It usually goes for a bit (10 secs max) then works again for a few minutes or more beofre stopping again. I like the mouse and want it to work again, rather than using a stupid Intellimouse with ball.

Any suggestions as to what I might do? Try cleaning it some more? Plug it into a different USB port?
It did work fine for ages, could it be messed up inside?

I'd try uninstalling the drivers, get everything off the computer associated with that mouse. Then plug it into a different USB port, then reinstall drivers. If that doesn't work it's probably the mouse going bad. I'd also try and plug another USB Device into the current USB port you're using, to see if that's the problem.
