Mouse freezing with KVM

My Intellimouse Optical freezes when I use my KVM switch. One system is using Windows XP the other is using Windows 98. I nearly ever reboot my 98 system and it never has any problems. The XP system freezes randomly when I switch to the 98 system for a period of time. It doesn't always happen, probably 1 in 3, and the mouse never freezes on the 98 system, even right after it does on the XP system. It takes a reboot of the XP system to get it to work again. Any suggestions?

Are you using a manual KVM switch? If so just switch back and forth one time. Manual switches are bad for this, you may try just waiting a little bit 30 seconds or so and the switched machine may finially pick up the mouse.

I bought a cheap manual KVM on pricewatch, I am not using the new 4in1 drivers on my XP machine cause the motherboard manual said that the new chipset drivers had problems on NT, so I figured it also applied to XP, but I will check for new drivers. As far as waiting that makes no affect, it have waited as long as 10 minutes, what I find strange is that it only happens like 1 in 3 times I do the switch.

Well I use a really cheap KVM switch and have the same problem. When it gets unbearable I just take the switch apart and use some electrical contact cleaner and clean the contacts. I have found some funny quirks and that is before switching it helps to have the num lock light on the motherboard lit. Weird but seems to help.
