Mouse Died

My beloved Logitech MX700 started having problems with the left click either not working at all or when it would work it would often double click on a single click.

Anyway I went to Radio Shack and picked up a Gigaware wireless rechargeable mouse that looks quite similar to the MX700.
The problems I'm having with it are the 2 side buttons work opposite of what they should. In IE the front side button acts as page back and the rear side button acts as page forward which is just the opposite of what I'm use to with the MX700. The only way around this is to use the mouse software that came with it which means yet another thing to start up and run in the system tray and slow me down(I like to keep my machine as lean on start up programs as possible)

Even worse problem is that some times I move the mouse and it takes a while for the pointer to catch up or sometimes it will move clear across the screen. BTW I have the mouse approx. 18" from the receiver.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement to the MX700 that has the back and forward side buttons that work the same as the MX700 and also have good performance?

thanks

Update..After I made this post I decided to call Logitech to see if my mouse was still under warranty and to my surprise it is. The support person said they would be sending me a new mouse and I should get it within two weeks and they didn't even want me to send in the old one. Cool!
A+ to Logitech for the way warranty support should be.

What number did you call, did they say how long the warranty was and how to tell when the mouse was made?

Logitech support does rock ... I had the same experience when my MX510 quit last year... they sent me a blue one to replace my failed red one, but it sure beat spending money on a new mouse for my backup PC.
