I have a microsoft optical intelli mouse on my other computer and it never seems to turn off. We've had this problem for quite a while now, and 3 mice later I want to know why it's like this?

it stays on when the computer is off, when the computer is idled (it never dims)

any ideas? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
 
Because power is still circulating throughout the system, even though the computer is not on. If you look at your keyboard (if you have the ones with power buttons), it also stays on.
