Mouse and keyboard go randomly haywire.

It started about 3 days ago I'd say. Every so often my mouse and keyboard just suddenly go haywire and all the keys seem to get remapped some weird functions. I can't for the life of me find out what gets remapped how I just that if I try to left click an icon it opens me properties instead and if I try to hit enter for example in steam chat it opens big screen mode. This is extremely annoying as it also happens while gaming and the only way to fix it is a hard reboot.

Mouse is a brand new Logitech G700 and keyboard is an old MS SideWinder X6.
I have uninstalled the Logitech software but it did not help and I can't for the life of me think what else might be causing this all of a sudden.

Greatly appreciate any help.
 
Ok this only seems to happen in games and still at random intervals and driving me mad. No spare keyboard to try, could this be anything else?
 
The requirements for that keyboard include powered USB port. It's possible the PC's USB port isn't capable, is burning out, or the PSU isn't providing enough power (unlikely, but possible). If you have a powered USB hub, try using that instead of plugging directly into the PC. It may even work OK on another USB header (try plugging into the front of the PC).

It's also possible the keyboard itself is flaking out, and due to the extra power requirements, it's affecting the mouse.
 
The mouse is wireless and powered by battery but I decided to switch ports on the keyboard and the USB receiver of the mouse and so far the issue has not recurred so here's hoping!

In any case the whole computer is only 6 months old so a USB hub flaking out or something would seem odd and the PSU is a Seasonic X750 that has been nothing but rock solid for the past 2 years.
 
It's most likely your G700 causing the issue. The G keys are software-mapped, and the logitech software is still kinda buggy for that. My G600 acts up sometimes in a similar way, swapping to another set of binds whenever it feels like it and resetting the third mouse button to the default.

Remove the G700 and completely uninstall the logitech software, and swap in a regular old mouse. My money is on the issue being resolved. Something is most likely fudging around with the logitech software, or your G700 is defective.
