You definitely shouldn't bitch about it. You knew what you were getting into when you bought a console, so buying it and then complaining about not having something you KNEW it didn't have is a special kind of stupid. It'd be the same if I bitched about my 360 not having a blu-ray drive. If that was important to me then why did I buy it? If keyboard and mouse controls were a concern, why would you buy a console?

because there are other games on consoles besides FPS?

Have you EVER played an FPS on a PC?

Why do you think Microsoft doesn't integrates XBOX LIVE and Windows LIVE games? They tested it and people on PCs with a mouse and keyboard OWNED the console players...

Consoles have TONS of great titles but for FPS, they don't COMPARE to a PC...

Man you can quit with the caps.

I've probably played pc games older than you.

I play 90% of my time on pc. I can go with either option any given night.

I'm just saying I can still whip sone ass with a 360 controller.

That's not the point he's making.
Its obvious the k&m is better and more precise, but the consoles don't have them. No one(unless you're some hacker/cheater with those cheeseball XIM things) has them on XBox, that's the beauty of it. Everyone is on the same level playing field. No PC guys to play against, everyone has to learn how to use the controller when they start playing FPSes.
There's no debating keyboard and mouse is better for FPSes, but we're NOT USING THEM!
Learn the damn controller or gtfo.
I'm with gorcorps. These PC guys that suddently realize their platform is dying and come whine that consoles don't have their controls of choice are getting annoying.

I'm sorry, I didn't want to say that. My first post in this thread was a little more subtle. :D

So you see using a XIM as cheating? Hmmm...

I'm not trying to be facetious with this, but I think PC gamers find that thought weird, given the wild west nature of PC gaming. Just plugging whatever into whatever.
Microsoft(and Sony/Nintendo) locked this platform down for a reason. And no, the answer isn't "to make more money off first party stuff".

i didn't buy a console because pc gaming is dying. i bought my PS3 mainly for blu-ray but i also acknowledge that there are good games on consoles that don't come out on PC.

I'm not some gaming elitist like you appear to be.

Also, how is a XIM cheating? It doesn't let you do anything more than what you could do with a controller, it just allows you to use a different type of control.

Do you think using a joystick in a flight sim is cheating too? I mean that definitely gives you an advantage over someone with a mouse or keyboard. Or maybe a steering wheel in a racing game. that would give you an advantage over someone with a controller, right?

what if people only used it for SP games? why is what someone does that has no possible way to affect you a problem for you?

Offline, do whatever you want. Mod your XBox, put flashing lights and four mice on it if you want, I don't care.
You want to play online with a device that needs a freakin PC to function properly and modifies who knows what else, well, that's for Microsoft to take care of I'm sure. Like mod chips, hacked DVD drives, turbo controllers, and whatever else they ban people for.

I don't understand why people are getting worked about about keyboard use with consoles. If there's enough demand for it, it will be supported. What do you care if someone is willing to fork over $50 to use a keyboard and mouse with their game?

Give a man an inch, he takes a foot.
Whatever. If you can't see how not regulating an online ecosystem can break the entire thing down, you won't understand.
I remember the good old days when online PC gaming used to be mostly cheat/hack free too, until my second time online in Day of Defeat was filled with an entire room of aimbotting, modded-code dinkbags.
I supposed if Live was free I wouldn't complain as much about modded crap. Maybe PSN is more my speed.

I don't think in the modern design of random gun aim... I mean cone of fire, that the k&b are really much better than controllers. In the twitch shooter age, there was no contest for PC. I don't view XIM as cheating because I don't feel it offers a huge advantage over the controller. However, "Hit Box" type of controllers I could view as a bit of an advantage in fighting games.

With that said, I was under the impression even the best k&b add-ons aren't anywhere near the "real thing". If you're really that set on spending $150 to use that control scheme, go right ahead though.

I guess it comes down to what makes it a more PLEASURABLE gaming experience right?

I can't even RUN straight with a controller much less aim well...LMAO!

Oh...and when I use caps, it's for emphasis, not yelling...

lol, here we go. another person who is completely clueless.

a xim does not add any functionality like turbo fire, extra lives, etc to the game. it ONLY allows you to remap controller buttons/movement to a mouse and keyboard. I can't do anything that you can't do with a controller. it's exactly like my example of using a joystick for a slight sim.

are joysticks cheats for flight sims too?

I bought a Max Shooter for PS3, and it worked OK. It wasnt great at button config, so I got a XIM. The XIM worked really well, but I got tired of spending so much time tweaking for each game. For example, on MAG and COD4 I didnt have to do much tweaking, but BFBC2 I could never get it to feel right. Plus, using a KB+M on a couch with a lap desk was a hassle. Now I'm back on PC for shooters.

The real shame is that there's no mouse support for games where it would make even more sense like RTS games. Given that there are 360 versions of Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Supreme Commander, Sims 3, it would make so much sense to be able to plug in a mouse.

What's worse is that its entirely a software issue. The USB ports are right there.
