Mouse Acceleration

I like having mouse acceleration on when i'm at my desktop or browsing the net, but i don't want it on when i play games. I'd rather not have to go back and forth all the time and keep changing it, is there some magical way i can get it to automatically turn off when i play games and have it return when i'm back to my desktop?

simplest solution might just be one of the gaming mice where you can change resolutions on the fly.
I used to enable the acceleration, when using the Remote Wonder, but had to enable/disable it like you are.

I once was the same way. One day I was too lazy to turn the acceleration back on, I got used to it that way and now it stays. If you have a Logitech mouse it can sense a game launch and automatically turn off the acceleration. It was 95% right, but sometimes forgot.

Yeah, the logitech software can turn it off automatically. Otherwise... not sure how you'd do it. I play with acceleration on anyway, though.

Some games, like Source engine games and UT2004, let you turn on acceleration in the game itself, so you can do it on a per-game basis.

edit: oops, read the OP backwards. you *dont* want it in games.

Yeah, the Logitech 'advanced' mouse config (find it on logitech.com) is a compact program to do it.

i don't bother with accel anymore, its just useless. better to get a high precision mouse then max out speed + no accel. it works fine. logitech had a feature for turning off accel in games. but when i used it i noticed it would get tripped off by other programs too...like vid players or whatever, very annoying. so i just don't use accel anymore and i don't miss it.

Anyone know how accurate the logitech driver software is at detecting games launching? It seems like it would be few and far between. I could never be able to immediately tell if mouse acceleration was off, but i know i'm better at fps games with it off.
