Mounting a golden orb flat...

kami

Lifer
I posted this in general hardware but not much of a response yet...

I don't think my golden orb is as flat as it could be on my coppermine. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting a good fit without having to buy one of those copper shims/spacers?

thanks!

sorry i have a slot 1.

used to have a globalwin FDP32 on a flip chip tho, had to build up spacers using electrical tape to get it to sit right, but once it did, it cooled very well. all i can say is take your time and experiment with tape.

or can you even do that with the way the flip chip gorbs mount? i'm a big help right.

i have the same setup i just stuck mine on.
i did not know people are having problems with them,p3 700 @ 966
and it never gets hot.

whats up with them (fill me in)

I couldn't get my gorb flat on my coppermine at all. It looked like it was flat, but temps still got into the 90c range.

I bought a copper shim, but sold my gorb shortly after (and got an alpha). I don't need it, so I'll sell it to you for $5, shipped 🙂

I did LOTS of testing and I know for sure it's not sitting flat. Hope this shim does the trick.

btw, I tried the electrial tape...couldn't get it to balance properly still.
