I'm hoping that the AIM and Google Talk integration makes its way in to the messages app in iOS 6.

This is all, of course, a very logical progression and why I have said that the 'personal computer' is dying. Within 10 years, devices that we use will just be devices, front ends to access our information stored in a central location. Now, not EVERYTHING will be like this. But I'll go out on a limb and say the ultra vast majority of computer usage will be.

It's the future.

Putting AIM or gTalk into iOS is probably not going to happen. Think about it, Lion and Mountain Lion users as well as iOS 5 and up users will be able to message each other with Apple's own cross-device messaging service. If someone doesn't fall into that category, I reckon Apple would rather that they do so than to give them a way to avoid it.*

*They want them to buy newer Macs or a Mac period, or to switch to an iPhone.

A guy can dream, can't he?

No, he can't. The Geneva Convention of 1949 banned the following:
Dreaming (including daydreams)
Flights of fancy
Caprice
Unlicensed speculation
Amateur imagination

Practicing any of the above is in violation of the accords and punishable by no less than 15 minutes of mild discomfort at the hands of trained professionals.

I have Beejive. I also have tried a couple of others. I'd really prefer to just have it all in the included Messages app. As it is, I won't use an IM client on a regular basis and I have AIM forwarding set up to send my IM's to me as texts so it kind of works.

Mountain Lion is great so far, honestly its just Lion with a few tweaks.

Notes is nice to have as a standalone app -- using Notes in Mail is kind of weird.
Reminders, just like iOS. Just a desktop app.

But in all honesty-- I use evernote for taking notes and reminders/todo lists.. Its going to be hard to break from the cycle. (It cannot replace Evernote, yet)

Notifications seems well thought out.. Its kind of like Growl.. but more system embedded. At first I didn't like that it has a weird quasi-Spaces panel.. but it grew on me. +1 for snooze feature.

I still need to try AirPlay Mirroring but I'm sure its gravy.

I have been having mad Safari issues, but I think that is because I upgraded and had a couple weird plug-ins (like Omnibar, which is now moot). So I will probably just do a nuke and install, then just migrate my user account.

Safari problems persist, will try running extension free, see if that mitigates the problems. Namely the weird "all your pages have to be reloaded RIGHT NOW" bug that existed in the the early stages of Safari 5 as well (it mostly got corrected, at least for me with the final release of Safari 5). Biggest problems are with flash/h264 videos.

No weird graphical glitches when transitioning a video full screen anymore at least.

installed moutain lion yesterday. me likey so far.

Is it stable enough for day to day use? And does it install over Lion, or did you have to essentially wipe & restore all your apps and stuff?

Call me crazy, but I kind of like reminders tied in with Calendar so I can just see what needs to be done in 1 spot. I kind of wish it would actually put the task in the calendar so I can visualize it a little better. Then again, I dont have 1028934 todos, only like 10 or so.

A friend of mine keeps referring to it at "Snow Lion".

Just thought I would share the laugh/smile.

You need to install an iOS beta to your aTV to get it to work with Mirroring I think. It is perfect for me on my Air since they are the same resolution. The current rumor is for an update aTV at next week's event, which may up it to 1080p (also if there was a way to do AirPlay extending, that would be boss)

Installing the iOS beta then testing out the mirroring. Anyone need me to test something specific?
