Just wondering. I know that you can set up read-only network shares, of course. But I want something that is absolutely not writable by the live OS running on the same hardware. I'm not really sure if that's possible or not. Maybe with VMware? Can you expose all of your (native OS) filesystems/drives, as read-only drives in the nested emulated OS?

You could make CD/DVD Iso files and mount them with daemon-tools on the server. Then share the virtual CD/DVD drive.

If you could get Windows to unmount the volume first, then yes.

Good luck doing that.
