Mount and Blade Steam Weekend Deal $7.50

Very playable. I played the demo and bought the full version. I like riding around on horseback and shooting arrows at my enemies.

since when?

have you ever played the game? it's ridiculously addictive, very freeform. it's hours upon hours of entertainment.

i have only a few gripes about the game, but those are fixable as well.

for 7.50, it's a steal. get it.

Nope never played it. Read tons of reviews and that is what I took from them. Also sounds like they left it open and realistic which is nice and has a large modding community.

Edit:

Was over at cheapassgamer and a thread has Mount & Blade listed as $4.99 at gamestop if you are anti-steam

This game will likely take a couple hours for the player to begin to enjoy it. The reason is because in the beginning, the player has nothing and things slowly progress forward. Once some troops are trained and equipment is found, then the game becomes highly addictive and fun. It does have its fair share of flaws, but for $7.50, it's well worth it. Plus, it has a large modding community so if you don't like something, check to see if there is a mod that fixes it.

if you've never played it, then spend the 7.50 and play it. it really is a great game, and becomes very fun very fast.

i suggest mounted archer... the learning curve is very steep, but it is by far the most powerful character.

For $7.50, even if you don't like it, it's only 7.50 so you're not losing much. That's not even lunch for some people.

Personally, I find a hybrid of both melee and archer is best. Archery takes longer to kill enemies and you are limited to the amount of arrows you have. With a mixture, you can switch on the go, depending which enemies you are fighting. For example, Nords are foot soldiers so a heavy mounted melee will work best and the player should easily be racking kills in the double digits. Against the Kheight (sp?), archery will help a great deal as they will be using quick mounts and bows themselves so getting close enough to swing at them can be troublesome.

I bought it last night just fine so I don't know.

edit:

Looks like they took it off or something today. Never seen that happen. Probably something with their servers.

Darn it. I downloaded a torrent a few days ago to check it out. I liked the game, and this sale came up at a perfect moment. But I can't order it now 🙁 Steam, don't make me steal lol

Yep looks like it's back up.

Issues with stability here, specifically when picking an action from a conversation that loads a world scenario, ie Arena or Looters.

No stability issues on my platform. I'd say this is a good deal on a game that would be fairly priced at $15 or so. The mounted combat is well done and the majority of the fun, but everything else really shows the indie nature of the game compared to more polished titles you might have played.

If you're out of games to play this should entertain you for at least 20 hours or so.

well, that's obviously what i meant. entirely archer is impractical.

i generally go with the upgraded war bow, 2 large stacks of khergit arrows, and the heavy 2 handed axe. best all around setup for anything but being first to rush up the ramp.

oh, and as a small tip.

when the time comes to take over a castle, use melee units. they're significantly cheaper. in fact, i suggest you have an entire contingent of melee units stored in another castle solely for doing castles. by far the best melee units you can have is huscarls (nords).

and when doing the actual castle itself, make sure you get yourself up that ramp first. rush in, jump in, and start swinging. you gotta make a beachhead yourself, because the AI that controls your army doesnt do it so well, so they'll just stand at the top of the ladder and die.

tbh, most RPG's come in at around 7-8 hours. this is well worth the normal price ($30), and a steal at 7.50.
