Damn, this was a 2 hour battle royal. $130
For this project, I had to buy myself a Torx #4 bit, as my supplemental Micro Torx kit didn’t go that small.
T4 makes a standard micro screwdriver set feel like a 48” pipe wrench. Smallest screws I’ve ever dealt with.
I bet you could pass those screws like a kidney stone and not even feel it.
After heat gunning this thing to melt the glue, I ripped out one of the cable connectors while using the “spudger” to pry the back off.
Then, I stripped 3 screws just
unscrewing them. Had to drill them out.
I even grazed the battery, at one point. It didn’t appear to be leaking.
And I still had to tear the phone apart on that last drilled stud that wasn't fully drilled out.
The only thing that didn’t fit was those 2 stupid long thin “mesh” plastic strips that looks like speaker grille?
The replacement LCD frame didn’t have it. I removed them from the old frame, but they just would not snap in.
I used flush cutters to cut off the tabs, and just crazy glued them into place.
I can not believe this phone still works, and looks perfect from the outside.
I will now nonchalantly give it back to her and say it was a breeze... Ha.
