i've got a Motorola WR850G wireless router with a desktop and laptop with wireless 802.11g card.......both were working perfect until yesterday when i was fixing a friends hard drive on my computer (did a recovery repair for his windows XP, he had an invalid boot.ini file)....now after i removed his hard drive and put my other hard drive back (storage), i can't get on the internet at all. my router won't assign an IP for my desktop. I have tried to unplug the router and cable modem many times and still nothing. my laptop is fine (i am using it now). i can't even get to the router page (192.168.1.1) from my desktop.

can anyone help?

A few questions here -- First, how is your desktop connected to the router -- wireless or wired? Second, what NIC does your desktop use?

desktop is wired, laptop is wireless.....i am using the on-board LAN that is on the motherboard

my roommates computer is also a desktop and it is hard wired and it's working just fine as well

i have tried to uninstall/re-install the LAN drivers/network adapter but that didn't work, i have also deleted all network connections and set up a new one and still nothing
