Looking to upgrade my crappy T-720 from Verizon, none of their upgrades are very enticing. Noticed over at letstalk.com that they have the V600 with a BT headset for 99 AR. Have to sign up with T-Mobile (or port your number) for one year on a plan of 39.99 or higher to get it and its currently backordered until 8/11, but seems like a really hot deal on an aweseome looking phone.

299 - 50 T-Mobile rebate - 150 letstalk.com rebate = 99

At Best Buy there's a Cingular deal, buy a V600 free(AR) and get a bluetooth headset or speaker free(AR). Also if you want two phones you can buy a V400 for $80AR and get a v600 free... then the bluetooth also :) I think the v600 by itself is more than $99 AR though so if you only want a v600 then get this deal... or if you want tmo

Anyone have any info on the reception of the v400 and 600?

Right now I've got the v60t and the reception on Cingular's network in certain suburban areas in the Metro DC area (ie: around our godd*mn house) sucks.

Reception on those 2 motorolas is great, but it's hard to tell if your reception problems are because of your phone or just the towers.

Is this a local deal, or every best buy? Was it in their ad this week? Got any details?

Here is the deal from this weeks Best Buy circular:

Buy One Motorola v400 and get one v600 free
v400: $129.99 - $50 rebate = $79.99
v600: $249.99 - $250 rebate = Free

2-year plan agreement required for mail-in rebates.

Free Motorola Bluetooth hands-free headset or speaker after mail-in rebate with purchase of the v600 wireless phone:
$99.99 - $100 rebate = Free

You'll still need to pay the sales tax, but still a good deal if you don't mind signing up for the 2 year contract.

edit: Anybody know whether you qualify for the rebates if you only sign up for ONE 2-year service agreement? Or will you have to sign up for TWO 2-year plans?

This was in my ad too (San Jose Merc).

Funny, my gf and I bought the v400, v600 and bluetooth headset on Saturday evening, the day before this deal. We were only getting a $50 rebate on the v400 and $120 on the v600. The next morning I saw the ad and flipped out. Fortunately, we went back and they gave us no problems returning them and then re-selling us the same phones so we wouldn't have to re-activate or anything. No penalties or hassle, just took a while to sort through everything. I have a BB rewards card, so I get $20 in gc's back from that purchase (bought a couple of accessories too).

Note that Bestbuy is also running a promotion (at least that one was, blossom hill & almaden) that if you buy 2 cell phone accessories get 25% off them, buy 3 get 35%, or something like that. This does not include bluetooth accesssories.

Wish I had seen this... I had contract with AT&T about to expire.

They offer V600 for $299 (I think). I called them and asked them to price match a local store add for $99 with a one year extension and they did (plus added extra 400 minutes/month to my plan).

I could have tried to get them to price-match for BT as well. (I indicated my employer would get me the phone and I would drop my plan - by having them sell me the phone, transferring the SIM allowed me to keep my existing number and address book.)

But no BT. I ordered one separately from the web - HS810 for $78 from blueheadset.com.

Received both and they work great. (Replaced a Nokia 6200.) It takes some getting used to Motorola menus after having Nokia menus for last 5 - 6 years on various models.

Actually the V600 has been discontinued by Cingular for reception issues in the 850mhz markets...
The V400 on the other hand is awesome.

that's surprising, since almost all of those (v300, v400, v500, v525,v600) use the same board and components. Just that the lower ones don't have all of them. howardforums people have even used the v600 firmware in a v300 and v400 (of course, bluetooth etc. does not work with the phones that don't have them)
I bought a cingular v600 phone for a tmobile sim card, and I changed the firmware to a generic one to get rid of Cingular syuff in the menu. Maybe I should change it to a tmobile one now.

Wouldn't worry about your T-Mobile service & the V600, they don't use the 850 band at all.
