Motorola Sliver Phone.

There's a lot more to it than "Can I get an unlocked phone".

They must support the transmission style of the phone, mainly. I don't know very much about it, but there are different ways phones run bandwidth and broadcast or something like that, and many services only support certain phones because their system isn't compatible with certain methods.

The link above will help you get a wealth of info on it.

BTW, I think the phone you are looking for is called the "ROKR"

No its not the ROKR, its the Razor Sliver..... I have seen several commercials for it, it says the new phoenw ith itunes.... Its really thin and non-flip.

I know its not as simple as getting an unlocked phone thats why I was asking if it would work.

It's not the Razor Sliver, it's just Sliver (SLVR). It has the same interface/layout as the Razr, but it doesn't share the name. Just Sliver (or SLVR).

There is also a PEBL (pebble), very very small flip phone w/ same interface/layout.

And I think only Cingular offers it. If you are with another carrier, then you will have to get it from ebay most likely.

The PEBL isn't that small...but it's a cool design, with the actuating hinge and all.

And yeah, the SLVR is a Cingular exclusive for a while...but you'll find tons of SIM unlocked SLVRs on eBay and howardforums.

Altel Phones don't take SIM cards..... They are CDMA phones, so i guess i will have to stick with getting a razor v3 then.....

Oh, I didn't see which carrier you were with...yeah, I guess you'd have to be with Fido or Telus or whoever's GSM up there.
