Hmm, this could be hot, except I can't find the rebate as stated by CompUPlus. "Your Cost ONLY $65 After $30 Rebate - Expires 6/30/02! "

Maybe the rebate will ship in the box, which I really doubt with the modems purchased at CC. They certainly would've advertised that if it has that rebate. In all honesty I think they're the same rebate, just processed by different groups. But it can be pulled off if we can find the rebate form for the Motorola $30 rebate.

BTW, how does AMEX BVG work? I finally got my bluecard, but the program's ending this month! Maybe I can get one in before it ends. Would they consider the shipping difference as well???

Wishful thinking! The BB rebate is the same as the Motorola rebate; rebate form from BB and Motorola are the same.

Um, this deal is only if you buy the modem at Circuit City, not BB.

How about PM directly CC with Compuplus?
I know that CC has 110% low price guarantee that will bring this deal lower.

Any idea?

I went to CC in Wilmington,DE and the salesman said that both rebates were the same.
I told him that they went to different places but he still insisted they were the same.
This seemed odd since they had different expiration dates too.
So, I didn't get it. Any one know if I can get both rebates?

Step 1: Buy at CircuitCity for $129.99 plus tax
Step 2: Pricematch it for $95
Step 3: Send in 2 rebates (CC + Manuf)
Step 4: Receive ONE of the rebates. Call the place you sent the other one in to, be told this is one rebate per purchase and/or household and that you are not getting the 2nd rebate. Hang up the phone and feel ripped off because you didn't weasel another $30 out of the deal.

Or, to get the same net price, make your life easier and buy it from some place selling it for $99, probably won't have to pay tax, and mail in the one rebate.

How's that?

Somehow I just have to completely disagree with you dizyblond.

I just did the deal yesterday. I have absolutely no reason to believe that the circuit city rebate is the same as the motorola rebate.

Circuit City rebates rarely ask for a copy of the UPC unless they know other rebate offers exist for the product. And even if they don't know about the other rebate offer, the terms are different on each rebate (length of time for processing, address, rebate offer number, etc..), therefore they are legally different rebates and both should be honored.

If one gets rejected (which I highly doubt) I'll call and complain until i do get it.

On top of that, I was able to easily pricematch directly at Circuit City, so my net price (with tax) was still cheaper than any online store if you factor in shipping.

This is a great deal for anyone that needs a cable modem..

Question - those of you who are pricematching it to $95: Are you
pricematching it against Compuplus' price? How are you getting
Circuit City to do that? Their policy says they won't pricematch
against net retailers. The manager in my local Circuit City won't
do that.

I own this modem and am having problems with a decrease in speed when used with my router.

First thought would be that the router is the source of the problem, but on a broadband thread i'm finding that there are many reports of people that experience a slowdown in speed when using this modem with ANY brand router. Not a problem if you are only hooking up one computer, but could be a problem if you're looking to share internet access between two computers.

What forum was this in? I was going to purchase a D-Link router today, but decided to hold off till tomorrow. I would like to know anything about slower speeds with this modem? Does anybody else have this problem?

The pricematching is for those that have Blue (BVG).

I agree with TheDuk, different rebates, different companies. One is a manufacture, the other a vendor. Look at Best Buy. They have a rebate, but it is clearly just Motorola's rebate.

Also for those unaware this modem can be uncapped if you're into that kinda thing. ;)

(dunno what happened to the last message)

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade -- just don't get too bent if you don't get both rebates! I can't believe CircuitCity is charging soo much for this modem -- guess I'm not used to paying retail thanks to this board!

okay i read the rebate form and it also applies to the newer SB4200, at Enpc they have it for ~63.50 after MIR while the sb4100 is ~65.00 after MIR. Which one performs better anyone know? and why would the newer one cost less?

I've been doing some research regarding this modem (due to problem mentioned a few posts above this one) and i've heard they are basically the same except for a few cosmetic differences.

There is a standby button on the front of the SB4100 which if you need to press it apparently makes you inadvertantly move the whole modem (since your pusing on the front of it), but the SB4200 has moved this button to the top of the modem so pushing down on it won't move the modem itself.

I also read that the SB4100 was only available to ISPs, but maybe they're rebating it now and offering it thru normal retail outlets in order to clear out inventory since the "new" model is the SB4200.

Again, i would caution anyone getting this modem who intends on using it with ANY router.
