Lot of devices excluded that are perfectly capable of running ICS. Too be expected though, for the usual reasons. Too many phones to support, Blur+bloat+ICS too heavy for some of the older devices. I am slightly surprised to see the Droid 3 excluded from the list entirely with the Bionic being in Eval stages. The Droid 3 and Bionic share the same screen, CPU, and RAM, with the LTE radio in the Bionic and the KB in the D3 being the only differences. Seems that if the Bionic can run ICS, then the D3 should be able to as well.

Would be interesting to track this over time to see how many additional devices get ICS, how many that are scheduled to get it don't, and how the schedule changes over time.

It will also be interesting to see how things change as Google starts running the company.

I believe Google has stated that Moto would be run as its own separate entity, so I don't see them going stock Android across the lineup anytime soon.

So basically, everything that says "Evaluation & Planning" isn't guaranteed to get ICS unless there's a further announcement saying so while everything that says "Development" is?

Oh, and if your device is not on this list, forget about it.

Also, why is the US version of DROID RAZR still in the "Evaluation & Planning" stages when the international version is in "Development" stage? Is that the fault of Motorola themselves or the Carriers? I thought the US version was the one that was released first and is also the more popular one. That doesn't make much sense to me, but okay.

Ugh... didn't they promise ICS 'within the coming months' all the way back in November for the RAZR phones? They haven't even begun actual port/development since then? Pretty blatant lie to all their customers.

I know the US carriers have their own "quality assurance" systems that delay updates by quite a bit. Maybe non-US carriers are more efficient? Wouldn't surprise me.

This chart makes me cringe everytime I look at it.
You see all those "Development" stage phones that say "rollouts begin Q2 and Q3 2012"?

That could mean all those phones in the "Evaluation & Planning" stage either won't get ICS or will get them in Q4 2012 or Q1 2013(if Motorola ever decides to make a future announcement that they will even get ICS at all...)
Yay.

Thank God I got a phone that is well supported within the modding community.
Either that or get a Nexus, people.

Things like this roadmap are useful for people like us who frequent tech forums. The Average Joe will likely never know or care.

I guess I can wait til Q3 for my Atrix 2, but by then I suspect someone will have unlocked their bootloader and custom ROMs will be circulating.

so people bought the razr after moto came out to say it would get ICS but development hasn't even started? hooray

People bought Moto phones in the belief that there'd be a speedy update?o_O

It might suck but you cant say you're surprised by this.

Its like buying a Moto phone and complaining in surprise that MotoBlur sucks.

And this is why you get the Galaxy Nexus. Don't screw around with phone makers and carriers. You'll only get burned.

If I remember correctly, Moto was pretty vocal when they announced the Razr that it would get an ICS update quickly, since they announced it right after the ICS/GNex launch.

Bingo! I was getting ready to post this very comment. I think it is verizon not moto that is stalling a lot of these devices. Note many of the non-verizon phones are being updated Q2/Q3 (though Q3 is a bit longer than I thought it would take).

Anyone who believed that can only thank themselves for being stupid. You buy a Moto phone, and most other brands too really, you'd better be happy with the version that's on there. Either that or make sure it's unlockable, and hope someone make a ROM for it..

Wow... If I just bought a Droid X2 a few months ago, I'd be PISSED. It's has a dual core processor, so it should have been able to handle ICS.

Yep, I'm up for an upgrade in a month and was on the fence between the Nexus and the RAZR MAXX. This puts me firmly in the Nexus camp...
ditto, i was looking at the battery life of the MAXX but you know what, fuck moto. I have the original DX and I remember how long it took for 2.2. I am not going to get another moto phone unless they can start showing us (the customers) that they can release timely updates. I guess I will just carry a charger for the nexus with me wherever I go and plug it in on the go.
