For instance, you can't assign different numbers to same person and designate whether it's home/work/cell. So end up getting John on thier 3 times not knowing what number he's calling from, if say you need to call back.

Couldn't you solve that by putting "John's Cell" in the name box instead of just "John"?

I don't get why it's like that. I have a V60i (a $200 cheaper phone) and it has the menu where you can select icons for the names.

My dad is a Director for Motorola in the phones division so I had a chance to play with it.

I mean it looks great, but the featureset on my V600 is much better, so I am not sure if it's really worthwhile.

Could be beta software though.

You definitely can designate a number in the phone book as home/work/cell. The numbers are identified at every instance (for example on the Received Calls screen) by a graphic of a cell phone, or a house, or an office building. It's generally very simple, if you know they're there.

I agree that the phone book sucks, though, with its separate entries. It doesn't seem very difficult to add another tree to each entry and a branch for each number, but... oh well. It's really messy, but it works out fine.

It is like that. You can see it in this picture from the review, or right here on my V400.

Yeah you're right, I'm bad at writing. I meant that the OS for the V600/V300 is really simple while other companies have a little bit more. So I guess the V3 would be lacking in some way in that department as well.

like V600 phonebook < 3650 phonebook
in the same sense V3 phonebook < comparable phone's phonebook

Free after rebate with opening of family plan and 3 lines. $50 rebate per line, $150. $175 rebate per line opened. Total $675 credit for it. Phone is $675.

Provider is Cingular, but the phone is unlocked and unbranded. I also had the option to go with Tmobile.

phone.jpg Comes in that nice metal box.

i had one and i returned it, I already have a V80 and the v3 has all the same short commings and basically the same software. Terrible battery life and a horrible phone book. Both the V80 and the V3 are "style/status" phones and while the V3 was all metal and really very sexy I prefer my V80

BTW: I would have paid $250 for the v3 (50% discount on cingular phones through a deal my workplace had with them), also the phone is now $369 AR at amazon.com

Finally got to hold one, which was crucial since I was afraid it was a little too wide for me...but it's perfect, so I'll order one up from Amazon after Tuesday (need to find out which one my sister wants).

Looked at the Nokia 7610 too, which I thought was going to be a strong contender...too bad the thing's fvcking HUGE.

I personally don't see the infatuation, it's thin but its still kinda wide/long. I also don't like flip phones..

i love my audiovox smt 5600 and all the cool apps it supports. ..although theres a bug in doom that needs to be fixed whre it loses focus, thing runs at full speed.

Also, i can put whole movies on here encoded with divx/beta player onto the memory card (100-150 megs a movie or 30 megs for a simpsons episode) ..not too shabby.

=D

I went to Cingular to check out the Razr and the salesman and his manager started haggling with me on the phone. I got him down to $350 with the $49 plan. Too bad I wasn't looking to get one. Funny how you haggle better when you have no intention of buying the thing.

mrCide, that audiovox phone was very sweet. I liked that one just as much as the Razr.
