Motorola Razr V3 won't charge the battery

I have a razr that my Dad gave me to fix (he dropped it in the toilet) and I got it working (an hour in the oven did the trick) but now it won't charge the battery. I've been searching around the web and this seems to be a common problem even with new, un-adulterated V3's.

My question is, can I charge this battery manually to make sure the phone works? Is it as simple as supplying DC voltage across the battery terminals? It's a 3.7v battery, do I supply that voltage or more in order to charge it?

Did you put it in the oven with the battery still in it? Should have just left it for a few days with the battery out and in a warm place. Leave it for a few more hours.

Do not apply voltage to the batt :shocked: it requires very specific voltage and current to charge the batt with out risk of blowing it up or setting it on fire. if there are no accessory chargers sold you may be out of luck. :frown:

3.7 v...sounds like a lithium ion to me. No offense, but its pretty stupid to put a lithium ion in a oven. Try testing to see if there is 3.7 volts across the battery terminals first to see if your battery is dead, or whether its the phone's charging circuit. Lithium ion batteries require a very carefully designed charging circuitry matched to that specific battery, and you cant simply give it a simple current/voltage like with other rechargeables.

Short answer - replace the battery and move on. BTW - Li-ION batteries are considered as HAZMAT items.

Don't play with the battery unless you have a proper charger for li-ion batteries. Even then you should be careful. It's cheaper to just replace the battery. Go to the cell provider store and see if they can let you try out a new battery to see if it's a battery issue or a phone issue.

I'm sure you can borrow a Battery from someone that has a razr or a similar device
