I just hopped in on the AT&T Wireless + Ericsson R289LX deal that was on the board not too long ago. I would of hopped in on it, but the other deal had the features I was looking for.

Free Domestic Long Distance
Free Nights and Weekends
Free Nextel Online

Accessories:

Shipping and Handling ($25.00 - FREE)

Phone:

$39.99 Plan Includes:

I don't know anything about the phone or the Nextel service, but it looks like a decent deal for people that are looking for another phone, or it can go as a gift.

Unlimited nights and weekends... and the nights start at 8PM.

That sounds like a damn good deal.

Edit: Is there a way to get that plan without the phone?

My job issued me a i550...the phone is rock solid. I've dropped it at least 40 times over the last year and it still runs like a champ. This is definitely for those looking for a rugged phone.

How is the quality of the nextel service? I'm in the market for a new cell phone deal. My Clingular contract is about to run out, thank god and I want a phone with over 250 minutes peak.

I got a phone for work as well (I paid for the phone, work pays for the service). I have the i1000+ phone. It's nice, a lot of features. But I have a few qualms with it. For one thing, the service is pretty bad. You can move your phone one inch and then the call just drops. The battery life on my phone only lasts about 2 days standby, which is ok, but batteries are really expensive. And if you want to use an ear piece you need a covertor.. There is no jack to plug in your ear piece. A convertor for the jack is needed. My work pays my phone bill which is $75 a month and it includes:
500 minutes outgoing, regardless of peak
free incoming, regardless of peak
Unlimited 2-way radio w/ coworkers
Voice mail, call waiting, 3 way calling.

Personally, if I was to buy this phone/service I would look some where else. It's a nice phone, if someone else was paying the bill :). They do round to the next second after the first minute which is cool. and just like what people said, the phone is pretty rugged. I dropped my phone several times on concrete/pavement and it still works.

Also, anyone know where to purchase accessories for the nextel phones? I want to get a desktop charger. I'm hoping there is some kind of generic company out there selling decent quality accesories for these phones.

does the i550 have caller id? Also when you use it as a two way radio does it use your regular minutes or direct connect minutes?
