Holy shizooey! This thing looks mean as hell! Let's see if Kawi can live up to it's reputation for building badass motors and give Honda's RC211 a little competition!

Where's the muffler?? I knew they were becoming much more slack in getting rid of noise restrictions in GP racing, but a straight pipe under the bike is ridiculous! 🙂
I kinda like that look, not sure why the back end has to be so high though. The riders' leathers and arse will be way out of the stream that goes over the windshield, that jacked up look might be too radical. It sure looks better than the Suzuki entry though, even if they are using the same engineers and tech.

I have no idea as to the details on this particular beast yet, but AFAIK they're not going "ground-up" as far as design goes. The chassis looks to be all-new, but I think they're mostly going for a 1000cc version of the ZX7-RR race engine instead of an all-new engine design with pneumatic valves and other exotica.

As for the production thing....there's no way this particular bike will go into production as GP bikes are essentially one-off deals (no homologation rules as in WSB). However, there is a good chance of some of the technology trickling down to the street level. I've been hearing rumors that the Honda V-5 GP4 engine (in toned-down street form of course) may inhabit the next-generation VFR Interceptor, so it stands to reason that this could happen with the other manufacturers as well. It really all depends on what the customer market demands....one thing's for sure: consumers never get upset about more horsepower and the GP4 bikes all make a sh*tload of that.😀

Kawi race bike are always green BTW. Honda=red. Yamaha= blue. It is an ugly-ass green tho.

EDIT- looks like the muffler is under the seat. You can see the pipe going up right behind the carbon heel plate.
