Motorcycle riders - riding jeans? (kevlar reinforced)

As part of the ATGATT crowd, I've been curious about riding jeans that are reinforced with kevlar. Right now I usually wear leather overpants (or straight up leather if I'm out for a ride only), but it would be nice to just be able to wear a pair of jeans.

Anyone have any experience with them? motorcyclegear.com has a clearance on AGV riding jeans, and while I swore I would never buy another AGV product (their textile pants ripped on my during normal use), these are somewhat tempting.

I have the agv malibu jeans. They are comfortable and I feel much more safe than I would in regular jeans. Jeans are baggy but it works for me as I have big legs from lifting. I also have some icon riding jeans and they kinda suck even though they cost 120 vs the 50 I paid for the agv.

I wore jeans during the late 60's and early 70's until I could afford a set of leathers; however, when testing my skill's and racing dawned knee and elbow pads as my knees were always on the asphalt plus Shin and Shoulder pads when motor crossing.

I still ride my 71 Laverda Breganze 750 SF. I'm 68 and a Motorcyclist Survivor. Not saying I haven't broken just about every bone in my body including my neck - Hate traction - Good luck and enjoy motorcycling ;o)

Sooner just tour at my age and I love my home made carrier and that Samsonite suit case.

I always feel sooo much better in leather pants with the pads than I do with textile or reinforced jeans. I also like either a full suit, or the 360 degree zipper because when sliding if that jacket rides up on you it can hurt.

I have had a few incidents when I went skitching across the pavement, and I was glad I worried more about protection than appearance and sweating. It's nice to get up and worry about the bike and not be all rashed up.

I've had a set of Dainese D1 Jeans and Bull-It SR6 jeans (I'm wearing them right now)


The Bull-Its are a bit better and more comfy than the D1's. I have knee and hip armor in them. They're rated for 6 seconds of slide and I fully believe they'd hold up that long if I were to go down.

Kevlar is actually not great for protective gear. In a slide it gets hot and can melt to your skin. Bull-it uses Covec.

Other companies use different materials but they're all equal to or better than Kevlar.

I have some kevlar jeans - they are comfortable, ...just not sure about the protection they'll provide though...

They are comfortable, fit well (order up) and are stylish. The knee armor pockets are badly positioned though so kinda useless (I don't use them)

Those are better protected (or at least seem so) but are really baggy and very warm. (not sure if these have armor pockets)

these are seriously the god ugliest looking pair of motorcycle jeans ever. it's like they hired old macdonald to design motorcycle jeans.
