BMWs has never been about HP. Besides, the g handles like a pig, and it barely has any top end.

To OP: The 335 should be faster than the IS350

The G35 has pretty good handling really. But you're right about the top end acceleration. G35\350zs absolutely run out of GO at 80mph.

Maybe you haven't been using higher octane gas.

I never noticed that actually in my G35. In fact the word 'effortless' comes to mind when climbing hills when I leave everyone behind doing 90+.
You can bet my next car will be a 2007 G35. Hopefully next year.

You never noticed it because it's baloney.

not a car person but i do agree with people on raw hp/speed numbers vs. driving impression and "feel." Me and my brother and law went test driving a BMW 7 series and a Chysler 300 with v8 - the 300 had comparable HP ratiings and was quick, but the BWM held the road and felt wonderful to drive. Even the chysler guy agreed that hp isn't everything - "there's a reason you can buy 2 of these for one 7 series"

They should have waited a month and compared it to the 335 which is looking like quite the beast. Should match or beat the G35 in most straight line tests and should maintain its handling advantage for pretty much the same $$ as the outgoing 330i.

Even with the old E46 330i and the old G35 the exact same price differential existed. At least now with the 335i there isn't the power gap so that 8K is easier to justify as it is a better car - whether its 8K better is up to each buyer.

you're comparing a 300 with a 7 series? are you a freakin retard? they're TOTALLY different segments, not to mention the 7 starts at like... twice the price of a 300C

Hehe. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out. Just look at the last page of that comparo and subtract 0-80 time from 0-100 time.
G35 80-100: 13.9-9.0=4.9s
330i 80-100: 16.8-10.6=6.2s
As expected, G35 spanks BMW in 80-100 mph acceleration. So if G35 has no GO past 80, then BMW has less than none GO.

The 335i is gonna be 2K more than 330i. So it's gonna be $10K more than G35.
G35 is the one to get, IMO. Bigger rear seat, none of that i-drive nonsense, and of course 7500 rpm redline.

Say WHAT?

It does handle like a pig; anything handles better than a g.
The 3 and the IS handles much, much better
Once you hit 80mph, it doesn't pull anymore. You can WOT and the car will just sit there.
The exhaust tone is one the worst, most annoying one ever. (for coupes)
The interior is just as nice as the Nissan Altima; no where near the IS or the 3.
Infiniti clock is one of the worst inventions ever
And IMO, it looks like crap compare to the 3 or the IS.

Bottom line - you get what you pay for - a POS.

The G coupe concept for 07/08 though is freaken nice, no doubt about it.

Also add to the fact that the windshield glare of the dashboard is reeaaally ANNOYING on the Infinity!

The Inifinity fit and finish feels cheap compared to a German car. Carlos Goshn may know how to cut costs on parts, but it doesn't take a very sharp eye to see the fit/finish cuts on the Infinity.

There's more to a car than 0-60 times. The Beemer owns Infinity. It's not even close IMHO.

If one is looking to save money, then you guys should look at cheaper cars. You pay for quality. No short-cuts about it....

Back to reality, new BMW interiors suck. Sure fit and finish is good, but the overall design is an ergonomic nightmare. At least the new G35 has a touchscreen navi, and real buttons for most functions. I-drive is like having a computer with no keyboard. You gotta go through menus to do the simplest things.
