Motor Trend: 09 Camaro vs. 09 Mustang

A) That is computer simulated, so anything can happen in the real world

B) No one is comparing price (only performance)

C) Performance doesnt always win, as you can see with the F150 still crushing all aspects of the truck market and from the previous mustang vs camaro war (we all know who won that)

But...Competition is good, hopefully it'll drive the Mustang GT prices below 25k

Im still leaning towards the 2009 camaro with LS2 engine and IRS starting at 30k
(around GTO price range, since GTO starts at 32k)

I believe you meant to use the word "sell" instead of "win".

pricing will be indentical, dont think GM will make THAT mistake again.

F150?? wtf does that have to do with performance cars?

I couldnt imagine them selling the z28 camaro for 25k. Heck why dont they just start selling the GTO for 25k then? To at least slow down the sales of the Mustang. Especially after that lack luster first year of the GTO.

F150 has nothing to do with sports cars, but it has something to do with performance. Considering the Dodge ram and Chevrolet Vortecmax push 345 hp. Wait, Sales figures are of the F series. And again, Dodge and Chevy's Turbo Diesels push out more tq then Fords.

/shrug "when your only competition is the camaro and you drive them off the market back in 2002 / 2003, I would consider that a win"

you can basically pick up an 05 GTO for 25k currently.

but if they put that as MSRP, they would lose money on every one sold.

if you go sit in a GTO then sit in a Mustang, tell me which is Larger, nicer, better interior, etc.

Only going by MSRP. Its the only fair standard, obviously you can get such and such car cheaper on the lot.

Mustang GT's are still selling well so dealerships will mark them up, Im sure if the GTO was selling well, it would be closer to its MSRP. By the time 2009 comes around, the Mustang should be had for less then the MSRP while the Camaro will be heavily marked up.

Now if GM would only build me one so I can eat Mustang in the real world.

Great...now they're comparing virtual cars? What a complete waste of time.

What happened to this Torch Red 5-spd GT?

I traded it in on a 2000 Toyota Tundra about 6 years ago (which I traded in on the 2003 Maxima SE I still own...and my wife is destroying). Why do you ask?

Yes, that was my car. I bought it used in 1996 with about 30k miles on it and traded it in with about 96k miles on it and a few mods. Great car BTW! Lots of fun!

Oh, and I'm still living in the same house but more mods have been on the house lately than my car. 😉

Edit-There's so much crap stored in that garage now you couldn't even get one car in it now...

Is that a double decker wing I see?

Yes, I bought that in a fit of stupidity from a shop in San Marcos for $250 painted. It was heavy as hell and made opening the trunk a real PITA and it really created a lot of unecessary drag at higher speeds. I sold it after about a year for $200 and put the OEM one back on.

Edit-That was a Saleen style wing and this was before or right around the time they started slapping those on every slammed Integra.

I saw this at Border's today, and had a good laugh, so typical of Motor Trend...

Here's an idea, how about you wait until the car is actually built to do a comparison?
