How the hell do you ZOOM on the camera? This is such a piece of crap interface, because the traditional "pinching" method doesn't even remotely work. Are you supposed to press that center zoom brightness control? It doesn't work with ANY consistency. A total piece of junk design on the camera app. Should I install another camera app?

There's not a lot of point in zooming as all the phone is doing is cropping the photo. You may as well take the photo at full res then crop it later.

The Motorola camera app is pretty poor. I like camera zoom FX.

If you insist on using the Moto camera, swiping up from the bottom will zoom, from the right to the center for you gallery.

ProShot is another. I think I'd recommend it over Manual Camera.

I think the Google Camera app is in the store; I bring it up because the HDR+ mode is really good.

This doesn't seem like much of Moto X thread, and more of a how to smartphone thread. Nothing wrong with that, but the title is becoming more and more misleading.

Just placed my order last night and finally got the order confirmation this morning. How long did you guys wait for it to ship? I'm kind of bummed it won't be here until the 25th.

It's for my wife to replace her OnePlus one, which unfortunately suffered a broken microphone (sounds super raspy and cuts off.)

I was going to surprise her with one - but decided to just let her design one herself. She spent hours picking and choosing and finally ended up with a design I would have never thought of. She was also super pumped about putting the names of our nephew and niece inscribed on the back.

Can't wait. I just hope that the camera is good. It'll break both of our hearts if it isn't at least competitive with my old 5s, let alone my 6s Plus.

I have the MXP- don't care about usb type c, or the fingerprint reader. Love the turbo charging and the micro-sd card slot.

How's the camera? Does it come with a turbo charger? I saw one separate, but bought the insurance instead.

Also, anyone know a good "feminine" flip case? Also, screen protector?

Well shiiiiip...

The phone is nice. Looks much nicer in person than I thought it would and my wife liked it...FOR 2 minutes.

What is with the camera on this phone? It takes good close up pictures and great pictures when the lighting is good - but it's unusable for selfie pics and anywhere that lighting is not optimal. It's almost like the flash is lagging behind the photo.

I swear my wife was literally - NOT JOKING - literally in tears because she hates the camera. It seriously sucks.

This is why you can't trust review sites - everyone praised the phone's capabilities and compared the camera with the S6/7 and iPhones, but it's mediocre at best.

Ugh. She decided she wants to keep it because the camera is better than her OnePlus, but I did not expect it to be so much worse than my 6s Plus. I offered to buy her an S7 but she said it's not worth spending $400 more. She hates iOS too.

I am considering this one of my all time bad purchases... :'(

Yeah, I had this phone for 2 weeks. Great camera for good lighting but very poor in low lights. One of the main reason my wife didn't like the phone.
You can return the phone BTW.

I asked if she wanted me to return it for a Samsung S7 (which would be off contract at full price) and she said no. She'll deal with the Motorola.

I kind of feel really bad for her - she really uses the camera a lot.

In daylight? Yea.
At a restaurant or a friends apartment with less than stellar lighting? Not so much. It's unusable. :'(

And as shown in the android central review I posted, unusable is an exaggeration.

At its release, it was one of the top 5 smartphone cameras at dxomark.

If pictures are this important, get her a real camera, or don't try to cheap out from the get-go. My sister in law uses her phone a lot of the time, but when she knows pictures will be happening, she takes a real camera.

Neither of us would want to juggle 2 devices. Ever since my 5S, I've gotten accustomed to using phone cameras for everything. 🙂

I wish this phone would get a update already to 7.0
I was afraid when they sold to Lenovo that the updates would stop. I can't remember the last time I saw a software update come up

How do I turn off Moto Voice? It keeps picking up conversations.
Yet, in Accessibility, it says Moto Voice is off.
What app is responding to ambient conversations?

LOL. My wife complains about the same thing. It seems to trigger at the most random times also.

Phone is still kicking ass, but I just did a factory reset on my Pure 2015.
Absolutely zero plans to upgrade this year (*or even next)

4GB free on the phone.
128GB SD card
