Most of my phone photos are taken of moving targets (my kids playing, my mates arsing around...), OIS isn't so good in those situations. Do people take a lot of landscapes in the dark?

Many people take photos indoors or places like clubs. In such a situation you need all the low light performance you can get.

Yeah but unless all the people in the club agree to stand completely still for a bit or its an empty club you're going to end up with a shitty picture if you're relying on OIS rather than a good sensor.

At some point it is the lesser of two evils. The band on the stand is fairly static.

Any sort of band/performance I can't imagine you're getting much faster than 1 sec shutter even with 1600+ ISO. In which case OIS won't do squat.

I really don't see much point of IS at just 35mm. Anything moving it's worthless, which is probably the majority of pictures. Maybe for taking pictures of your food in a dark restaurant..?

camera phones should even be wider than 35mm which makes IS even less necessary but yes - OIS would be great for shooting static subjects in low light. the other place is for video shooting hand shake - it's HUGE for that purpose.

I'm hoping there are some in depth comparisons between the 6P and phones with OIS when it comes out, I'd like to see how much the larger sensor helps vs. OIS in low light conditions. I can see why people who shoot a lot of video on their cameras would want OIS but for me I shoot mainly still with my phone so I'd rather have a sensor that'd let me use a faster shutter speed than using a longer shutter speed and OIS. Of course it'd be awesome if it had both, maybe the larger sensor size makes it more difficult to fit in OIS as well.

I was all in on the motoxpure until i realized it's equipped with micro usb charging. I'm not sure about you guys/girls but i absolutely hate micro usb charging. it takes about 1 year for it to goto shit. here i am with my S4 spending a minute trying to get the perfect angle for the phone tot actually charge, when sure enough i wake up at 3am because its beeping due to low battery. Maybe this is just me, but 3 phones later and ive had this issue every time. Enough is enough with micro usb.

contrary to my last statement that OIS is dire for video - I've since read that DIS is great for video. so maybe it's not that much of an issue. now I am unsure. was not aware of the possible quality of DIS for video.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how the DIS works on the 6P, if it's good enough then the absence of OIS may not be that big of a deal.
