Moto RAZR $99.00 shipped from Cingular, NO CONTRACT!

AnyMal

Lifer
Shows available in silver, black, blue, and pink.

Linky

You can unlock it for about $5.00 on eBay or Call Cingular and ask for a code.

I cant buy just the phone, its saying i have to get a contract.

Edit - I guess you could buy a pay as you go phone and not activate it?

I've heard these things have a very high failure rate. My roommate's GF's Razr's screen is currently fritzing...so YMMV...but hey, it is a good deal on the price.

Buy it as Pay As You Go. Throw away the included SIM. Insert your own Cingukar SIM. You're done 🙂

It does work. However it's a violation of your contract to use a go phone on a post-paid acct. Although highly unlikely they do reserve the right to suspend your acct if you use this phone, although I've only seen it a few times.

Good deal, I've unlocked them before (downgrade bootloader & use motorola unlocker). Maybe I should get one for my dad since he needs a new phone. Just put his t-mobile sim card in there after it's unlocked.

My RAZR started crapping out after having it for about a year. 90% of my phone calls take place through static ranging from mildly annoying to white noise so loud that conversation is impossible. 3 months after that, I started getting errors with the battery meter (half the time it says it's completely dead for days at a time.. when it's fine) and now randomly telling me that the SIM card isn't in the phone (it is). Caveat emptor.

I have the very first razr that was released, it's been through tons of tinkering from me, dropped, I've changed housings for fun, etc and it is running strong. I think the quality started going downhill with further iterations.

Could I install a Tmobile chip instead?..........

If you unlock the phone first.

OT: I just switched to cingular form AT&T... Now I guess I can switch back... Dunno what the problem is with the... Witch is it anyway...

BTW, I own 2 of the razor phones got em free with a contract 2 year. Dunno, my other phone had a better reception... No problems so far. The screen is nice... It's pretty hard to configure them... I wrote a small write up on how to put games, unlock etc... on them. makes it more simple, if anyone wants it let me know...

My wifes on her 3rd razr in 6 months. She had her previous phone for 2+ years without issue. Several of her friends also have had them die in less six months.
They do definitely seem to have a much higher failure rate than other phones

I have also first razr which is problemless, however a friend of mine complains about his razr purchased an year later.

Had a V3 for over a year and loved it. Lost it in China last month so I still had the Cingular SIM card at home. Ordered the V3 GoPhone pay as you go on Monday and received it today.

Popped in my old SIM and it fired right up, no problems. I did have to pay almost $20.00 in tax, but I do not think there is any other way to get a replacement phone at that price without a new contract. I am happy!

Thanks for the post AnyMal, I would not have my new V3 today without you!

😀

The Blue is only available as (Pick your plan). If you choose this option, do you have to pay the 29.99 for the first month? Or simply never activate it?

Remember to go through dealking to get an additional $20 off. If you live in CA, it looks like you get hit with tax on the full price:disgust:. Other states just get tax on 100.

Probably a stupid newbie question, but I view life as too short for anyone over 40 to learn the ins and outs of cellphones and cellphone plans:

Can I buy this phone for $99, never activate it, and then activate it as a replacement phone under my existing Verizon contract?
