The screen on the Moto G is Gorilla Glass.

The more I use this phone the more I really like it.

Gorilla glass means nothing.........my N5 has that and i already have a scratch on my screen from the keys or wallet in my pocket. Sucks.

I just got this for my dad and played around with it for a while. I must say those quad core A7s are mighty fast. Its faster than my dual core A9s of the galaxy s2. Its as snappy for regular use as my wifes nexus 5. I love the back cover, its so sturdy, not the cheap ass back cover of my s2.

Yes, it does. Looks like yours has a defect or something. I have a Nexus 4 and I have actively tried to see if I can scratch the screen with my car keys and I haven't been able to. What does get easily scratched is the back, so I put a case on it.

I am never buying another Motorola phone again after dealing with their utterly useless, incompetent customer support. For all of their boasting about being based in the USA and all that BS, their support sucks. Worst. Company. I. Have. Ever. Dealt. With.

Can you share any details?

Care to elaborate? It sounds like there's a fun story here.

I don't want to go into all the details since they did eventually take care of the problem, but not before I called about 4-5 times, got placed on hold for an hour each time, got disconnected once after being on hold for 30 minutes, and being told incorrect information multiple times. I've dealt with companies like Dell which aren't exactly known for good customer service, but none of them have been this incompetent.

Motorola's customer support is completely separate from Google's Nexus support, and the difference in quality is stunning.

I'm never buying another Motorola phone again after this. Nexus 5 it is for me.

Looks like the Moto G is everything the Moto X should have been: Extremely low price, extremely good for the money.

I was rather unimpressed by the Moto X because both the Nexus 4 and 5 were better phones so I don't see the point in the X since it is not cheaper but the Moto G's entire package and price is very very nice.

How is the Nexus 4 a better phone than the Moto X?

The simplest answer to that is that the Nexus 4 has a much better processor and faster updates. Normally that alone wouldn't be so be all end all but the X has no redeeming value at all. Very poor battery life, an extremely bad camera, dual core processor, no removable battery, no MicroSD, nothing at all to make it more palatable unless you just really really want to be able to say okay Google.

True my N4 was great i got very minimal scratches after owning it almost a year. The 5 scratched pretty fast.

SAME CHIP in Nexus 4 and Moto X in the S4 Pro (higher clocks in Moto X, not having 2 cores is hardly a loss). Moto just went a little crazy with the marketing jargon. Same GPU and RAM. Slightly bigger battery in the X.

The camera is not bad, it's actually above average after the first big update. The battery lasts all day while the phone itself is constantly listening for your voice.

Not sure where your hate comes from, but it's making you very un-objective.

Yeah the camera thing is strange. The Nexus 4 camera and battery is crap.

The N5 is a terribly engineered device. The hardware is good, the display is good, the phone itself - major disappointment.

As noted, the X received an OTA update for KitKat before the N4. It also has LTE support, wifi ac, uses f2fs, a more robust case, and active notifications.

As for the CPU, perhaps you ought to look at performance tests between the two. I'm also amused at you calling out the camera, fixed battery and lack of SD slot - especially as those same comments apply to the N4.

Absolutely no it does not.

Nexus 4 has poorer battery life than the Moto X.
Nexus 4 has a much worse camera than the Moto X.
Nexus 4 and Moto X use the same processor.
Nexus 4 doesn't have a removable battery or MicroSD.

quick update. For an older person going from s2/touchwiz(I suppose sense will be same) to stock android is a learning curve. It's like learning a new smart phone all over again. I can see now why samsung/htc/etc put a skin over stock. Whatever problems it may come with, it does make it easier to use.

I guess going from 2.3 to 4.3 isn't helping either, heh...

I'm guessing that being completely new to Android and coming from iOS is going to make learning Kitkat even more fun for me then?

Are you running a stock ROM or a skinned ROM that came with the phone? If it is the later then moving from iOS to Android should be very easy. I did the same earlier this year (Touchwiz based phone) and it was a very easy change.

I'll be getting a Moto G when I leave my current employer and have to turn in my iPhone 4S. I'll be leaving the phone stock at least for the first few months as I learn to use it.
