My 8gb Moto G from Verizon arrived today (unusually long shipping time...). Bypassing activation is super easy; Lay295 recorded a video on how to do it:

1. Boot up phone
2. Click the Start button
3. At the Phone Activation screen, wwipe down to open the notification center
4. Swipe the Phone Activation app to the left to kill it
5. Optionally setup your Google account
Takes like 3 seconds. Awesome! (it tries to reactivate every reboot, not sure how to get rid of that without rooting - but it only takes a second to bypass the screen, so no biggie). It was $99 from Amazon and I did NOT have to purchase a pre-paid plan. It does NOT have a SIM card slot; all it has is a charging slot on the bottom and a headphone jack on the top. Feels nice in your hand, nice clear screen, great performance (one of the smoothest experiences I've had on Android, actually; it's running 4.3 right now OOTB). Plenty of case options out there:
Otterbox - $34
Budget hardcase with screen protector - $6
Supcase (similar to Otterbox) with screen protector - $16 with your choice of colors
I'm actually using this as a simple Wifi company camera - take picture, email it, done. No memory cards, external batteries, card readers, etc., like a regular digital camera - just a camera phone & a wall charger. You can use Surelock Kiosk ($50) to customize the homescreen; for this project, I only added the "Camera", "Gallery", and "Email" programs. Take the picture with the Camera app, do any necessary edits in the Gallery app (crop/straighten/color boost/etc.), then Email over Wifi. Also super useful for blocking ALL apps from kids, except the ones you want (they can't mess with any settings this way, although you can just lock out certain applications for free with AppLock). Quick pic of the customized home screen:

I'm not super crazy about the camera quality, but an iPod Touch (what I normally use & which has a much better camera) is $300 and can't be locked down as much for corporate use, so there's tradeoffs for the price. There's some odd pixelization in the details of the photos as well, some kind of weird fuzz that removes fine detail (ex. text on label stickers), but it works fine for general photos:

Excellent device for $99! Real gamechanger in terms of MP3 players, mini-tablets, etc., whatever you want to use them for. I'm not aware of anything this nice, this powerful, for this cheap on the market today.
