Moto CEO: Motoblur will save you from bloated, junkware apps

Uh, I wonder what he's actually used for comparison. Blur consistently competes with Sammy's TouchWiz for the title of Crappiest Android UI. Even Sense is a horrible bloated pos compared to Vanilla Android.

Still, it will be interesting to see what apps they'll flag as offenders. TaskKiller? Tethering apps? Launcher Pro and ADW?

The more I learn of Blur, the more reluctant I am to purchasing any Motorola phone in the future...

Motoblur collects information about customer use of applications and how that use relates to functions like power consumption. With that data, Motorola learns which applications drain power.

I don't want my phone's manufacturer or wireless carrier to "help" me use my phone with crap software. Just build the phone, provide me with a network, take my money, and go away please.

Sanjay is an idiot, Moto could damn near rule the world if they played the game better, a US company that made great phones like Apple, but no, they keep doing things like using locked bootloaders and crappy stuff like MotoBlur. Then when they get called on it, they blame others for their crappy products.

I don't recommend Moto phones to anyone, and that's genuinely sad.

I was going to quote that part, but I was making the post from my Thunderbolt. 😛

Sense is far superior to vanilla, my EVO has a hacked sense rom and it's quicker than CM7 or UD ever were for me. If it wasn't for Sense I probably wouldn't even touch Android devices.

I loathe Sense with a passion, can't stand it. Once CM for the Thunderbolt is reaches a more stable state, I'll never touch a Sense rom again. As it stands, I'm using Vanilla Bean with all Sense/HTC apps removed and replaced with stock. Faster and better looking to boot. 🙂

And UD is a straight ripoff of CM, so not much there. 😛

Amen. I want to love Motorola. I think the X is the coolest looking phone ever, and the Atrix's expandability is something from my dreams and they are both ruined with a locked bootloader....

Someone needs to save Moto from itself.

I agree, it's amazing how fast they screwed things up for themselves. The OG Droid was a huge success, and since then all they have done is remove/replace everything that made it great.

Is this dude for real? My Atrix runs slower than my friends Samsung Galaxy S. Fuck you Sanjay, gimme stock Android.

You are doing it wrong. Sense sucks. CM7 rips everything apart. Or are you comparing CM7 on a Droid????

WTF! if so.

That was ages ago, the latest is a total re-write from scratch and VERY fast. If they had a UD based off the Sense rom I would be running it right now. Also I don't know about the CM dudes, but Blackdroid will be on IRC and pretty much fix bugs you bring up in a matter of minutes. I've never encountered a dude like him in the scene.

I've ran CM7 on my Moto Droid and my Evo 4g, on my Evo I have a rom called Warm Z which is better in every way. CM7 is good but it's not as responsive and my battery life was worse with it. A modded Sense rom is as good as it gets IMHO. Warm Z has Rosie and I get the killer HTC Email widget. I'd even use MikG 2.1 over CM7, but that's just me.

He takes his code directly from the CM Gerritt. And usually takes credit for all the fixes and features that others wrote. Part of the reason why he's been run out of most reputable developer sites.

But this thread is about Moto's fantasy reality. 😛

I could not agree more. I had a Milestone for a year (GSM version of the original droid). Even without Motoblur, it was buggy and laggy as hell. Update policy is non-existant and because of the locked bootloader, Motorola makes it difficult to let the community fix it. Got myself a Nexus one and I could not be happier. Motorola makes some great hardware but their software development sucks monkey balls and customer support is non-existant. Their reputation is totally ruined here in Europe.

i dont really have a problem with blur. i keep asking in all these bitch threads what specific things people hate about it, and i never get any answers. ive used a thunderbolt about as much as my own droidX, and i have to say other than not being able to delete emails from the server (in the stock email app) i prefer the X over the TB interface.

LOL at Moto, it's amazing how the same people that makes brilliant phones like the Droid X are also the idiots behind MotoBlur. They must really be drinking their own Kool-aid to say stuff like this.

Hardware engineers / software engineers / executives & management

There is talent at that company in one of the above categories 😉

I'm the opposite. I hate Sense. Love Vanilla. I really have no idea how a Sense ROM for your device is quicker than CM7. Rosie is a bloated pig. It always has been on my G2.

Yes I've tried newer builds of Gingerbread based Sense, just to see if it sucked less. It did not.

This. The completion of the Thunderbolt/LTE RIL for full AOSP builds cannot come soon enough.
