Motion gaming , which console to choose

My wife and me want to buy a console to play games. i asked her whether she want Xbox or Playstation , she said : no ,i want Wii. after further inquiry i found that she want the Wii because she likes motion games ( they have Wii at her father's house where she lived ). she do not want to stay in the sofa all day and hold the controller. i guess that she also likes family friendly / interactive games that the the Wii has.

for me i like hardcore games and nice graphics. i played platstation 2 back in the days. and i find the Wii graphics is too primitive

so i thought maybe i can convice here with Kinect , with some research i also found that the playstation have the "move" controller. well that is good news. now i have something to maybe convince her with.

questions are :
1- will she find "Wii like" exprience with either one of those two platforms ,is there enough games on either platform that make good use of the motion controllers?
2-anyone has first hand exprience with Xbox Kinect or playstation Move and have some comments to share? especially regarding the responsivness of the controller.
3- is there any website where i can find a list of games that use the those motion controllers (so that i can read or watch review of those games)?

You won't have a Wii-like experience with the other consoles because they use cameras. However, you get motion gaming with both. That said, I think that the Xbox is the clear-cut winner in that department, as Sony treats it like an afterthought and the Wii uses antiquated means of tracking (sensor bar+controller). just to point out a few things:

1. Through the end of 2014, the Xbox One has free Xbox Fitness, so she could do workouts, if she wanted.
2. Check out Zoo Tycoon. There's some nifty stuff with the Kinect in that game (the game's not on the PS4 or Wii), and I think it's the game that is most-likely to interest her.
3. Many of the games on the One right now make SOME use of the Kinect, but mostly on an audio-only level (Dead Rising 3 allows the zombies to react to the sounds you make in the living room, and some of the sports games will send you in-game fines for cursing, for example). Kinect Sports: Rivals is there, of course. The only other released games with Kinect integration are Zumba Fitness and Angry Birds: Star Wars.

Really, I'm not sure that the Wii U has great motion stuff itself. for example, the games I played on the original Wii only really used shaking the controller, which you can certainly do while sitting down (and I did just that). The Wii's sensor bar just tracks the controller, so there's no actual NEED to be off your butt, or even a real incentive.

The Kinect (and the PS Camera, I'm sure) actually tracks your body with a camera. For example, with Xbox Fitness, it shows a figure of the player on-screen, and it highlights the working muscles and grades your form/speed throughout the exercises.

But it's all about agreeing on a console with games you both want, I guess. I don't know of any games that use the PS Camera, let alone ones Sony ADVERTISES as games for the Camera, but that's because I don't care about it.

If she wants motion games, the Kinect is really where it's going to be at for quality and quantity. The PS4 won't mess with it too much, I imagine, and the Wii U won't use good tracking tech to make movement meaningful, in my opinion.

Not to sound like an Xbox spokesperson (I personally don't care for motion stuff as a whole, and I'm still using my 360 because I don't see any next-gen console worth it right now), but I think that the Xbox One is the answer for you. The Wii U will get ignored by a lot of major publishers (EA, Take-Two, Bethesda), and it has no real online gaming presence. The PS4 ignores motion gaming, for the most part. The Xbox One might not have the raw power of the PS4, but it'll be a solid middle ground for you two, if she is interested in the fitness stuff and Zoo Tycoon/Kinect Sports.

Get the Xbox One. Then, when you and your wife realize that--if she is like 99.99999% of women--she doesn't actually care about console video games after all, you end up with a good console you can play and not a dust collector.

That's why I'm grateful my woman plays Xbox one with me every time she's over. She loves dead rising 3

The new Kinect is very good at what it does, but so far there is only 1 game I know of that actually uses it, and that's Just Dance. I have no clue when the next kinect games will come out. That being said, if you want the games and you want them now, I'd go with a wii. It's dated, and the system is not for me, but as far as games go there are tons when compared to the X1, with just 1 game for kinect so far. As for PS4 it's a great system and I'd love to have it, but for motion games it's nearly useless. So as I see it you have a few options.

- Buy the X1 and get Just Dance, and play only that for months
- Buy a cheap Wii and have tons of games at your disposal, then wait for the X1 kinect games to come. THEN get the X1 because it's one of the few consoles I can say is worth the price.

For the price of the Xbox 1 and the one Kinect game for it you could buy an Xbox 360, kinect and about 20 different games. I don't disagree with the quality and future ability of the XB1 Kinect, but the value and library for the 360 is unequaled right now.

I've played Wii, Wii U, PS3 with Move and Xbox 360 with Kinect. Haven't really played PS4 or XB1 much, but I'm guessing you're not interested in either (if you don't even have a Xbox 360 or PS3 yet, I'm guessing you're not the early adopter type, lol).

I'd say Kinect on Xbox 360 is the best out of the three (Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox 360). The Just Dance and Dance Central series of games are really fun for gamers and non-gamers alike. I haven't played Kinect Sports, but I've heard it's a decent analog to Wii Sports and PS3 Sports Champions.

Easiest way to browse the games that I know of, is to go to the wikipedia page for the list of games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kinect_games
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Move_games

...and look up the games you're interested on Metacritic to get ratings, reviews, videos, etc.

Not sure where to go to for a list of Wii games that use motion sensing.

If you want the library now, go for a cheap 360. I would recommend Kinect Sports (the pack with both games), the Dance Central Games, and Fruit Ninja Kinect.

If you can wait for the library to develop, get the Xbox One.

Overall, I'd still recommend the One. Thinking of the future and not just this weekend.

That first-generation Kinect is a complete turd, though. I tried it a few times, and it's just BAD. Signing in doesn't always work. Moving in-game's iffy. Watching my friend yell at his console 3 times to close the tray, then get up and push the button...epitome of that thing's issues.

Agreed. It will take a while for the XBox one to get a decent number of Kinect games to make it worthwhile. At least a year from now. The 360 with Kinect will get her moving while giving the OP his hardcore gaming fix.

There's also the Wii U, which is backwards compatible with the Wii.

PlayStation shouldn't even be on your radar for motion gaming. The Move isn't well supported.

thank you all my friends.
last night i showed her the kinect and she seems to be convinced. probably a 360 would be a viable option . the other one i am thinking about is to get Wii now and wait for the one.

My experience has been the same. Except they don't stop yelling and its me that has to get up and just push the damn button and I'm not even the one playing.

I guess they get away with it with wild crazy dance games where both you and the characters are thrashing around so much you don't realize there is no 1:1 movement mapping lol. As long as something is bouncing around in front if the camera it will animate the characters and throw stars and compliments out lol.

Sounds like you would be better off getting a Wii U really. It can play all Wii games (just need to buy the Wii controller) and it offers a different experience with the gamepad as well.

Kinect for the 360 is garbage.
Move for the PS3 is very good and accurate, but both the Kinect and Move don't have a ton of software for them iirc.

Why would you need to tell the xbox to close the tray when it could be done with a button press. Also, if you were wanting the disc try to close, that would mean that you were just at your xbox putting the game in, so why couldn't you close it while you are there?

Man, I asked my friend that EVERY TIME. He'd put the disc in, sit down, then tell the console to close the tray itself. It confused me every time, and it made me chuckle when it failed multiple times.

^ Sounds like the same type of person who buys a car because it has swiveling rotating bendy blinking dancing TV screens and pointless ADHD gadgets to play with but doesn't know what kind of engine it has.

And they are like "check this out, its so cool!" and you're just like "...ok...???"

wii u might have more move games but your girlfriend might end up interested in some more 'hardcore' games the 360 has. The nice thing is once she gets used to the 360 controllers you can pick up some cheap games for the 360 (or pc) that uses the controllers. LEGO games, Lara croft guardian of light, etc.

Wii with tons of cheap games now, Xbox One with Kinect games in the Fall. Ignore PS Move, not worth your time since it's not worth Sony's time.
