I believe this is a member of the Sphingidae family, but I haven't seen these markings before.

Quite friendly and harmless, but still freaks the wife out!

Can you teach me o wise one? :beer: That is a very nice picture. I was trying to take one of a moth that was hanging on the outside of our basement sliding glass door and never did get one I was happy with. :disgust:

You have to hold really still and if exposure times are longer than 1/60 sec, good luck! I should have used a tripod, but I wanted to snap these as fast as I could and let this guy go.
