A damn good movie, I was actually quite surprised. It scared the crap out of me. I want to watch it again so I can pick up all those subtle hints that you know are there but don't know what they mean.

Cool, twice now I've almost bought it at costco. Tonight was the second time.

I guess I'll have to pick it up now..

If it sucks , I'm afraid I'll have to kick your ass a little though!! ;)

?!

You've got to be kidding. Absolutely nothing was explained by the movie's end, especially why those particular people were picked to have prophecies revealed to them. What movie were YOU watching? :Q

obviously you are too stupid to realize that this movie was based off of REAL LIFE events that took place in WestVirginia during 1966-1967. The cause of these events was undetermined, so why would you think the movie maker would make up a cause of the events. And to answer your question about why those people were picked, IT SAYS IN THE MOVIE ITSELF that these people were picked because they responded to such tragedies with a coolness and calmness and that is why these mothmen were attracted to them. They didn't react like normal people would react to tragedy. The end of the movie is actually done quite well, if you notice that he DOESN"t pick up the phone when it is 12:00 because he realizes the other guys message "I haven't turned back since, and never will". obviously you didn't pick up on this things during the movie.

I thought it was a pretty sucky movie. It was boring, slow overall, not much scariness. I wouldn't buy it just yet, rent it first.

Um yeah now go load up Google and go a few searches for Mothman. Some freaky stuff out there. Apparently, quite a few people actually saw this thing.

haha, did I hit a little close to home? Sure got defensive in a hurry!

Oh dear me, it's based off REAL LIFE events. That should obviously exclude it from having some sort of plot, character development, finale, or any explanation of why these things happened whatsoever. Amazingly enough I'm not going to research a movie before sitting down on the couch to watch it.

Who are "these people"? There was only one person other than Richard Gere who was to have heard prophecies before and he was on screen for a total of 90 seconds, and totally uselessly at that. Gere sure seemed to respond how normal people would react to tragedy. He became sad/depressed/closed in from the world. Why did his wife see what she saw? Did they have their car crash in order for Gere to start hearing the prophecies? That's pretty dumb if true - it's self-causal.

Oh well THAT little tidbit saves the entire movie!

The one thing that's obvious here is that only you and the other 8 people who've read about this dumb Mothman crap liked this movie. What a waste of two hours.

I enjoyed the film. Haven't decided if it warrants a dvd purchase yet.

what freaked me out was the ending, all my life whenever we would go over the williamsburg bridge from bklyn to manhattan, i had this fear of the bridge collapsing and falling into the east river. Plus it didn't help that the day after i watched the movie, not even 12 hours later, that whole bridge thing happened in indiana?? wherever it was that the bridge collapsed.....freaked me out

I saw the movie, but don't remember much about it. Not really what I expected the movie to be like, but it was enjoyable. I'll have to see it again to make an educated post on it.

You're the first person I've heard of NOT liking the movie. To each his own. I liked it.
Then again I own Zoolander on DVD so my opinions on any films from here on out are rendered completely baseless and irrelevant. :D

man its funny how this movie gets such extreme responses from people. It's either "I loved it" or "this was the most boring movie ever". Well I guess you have to be somewhat of a horror film or sci-fi geek to really like the movie.

It was ok...wasn't great but didn't suck. Good horror/sci-fi movies don't come along that often.

Great movie..got it at costco few days ago. And it most certainly has repeat value. Interesting to see Richard Greer in such a movie. I'll wait a few weeks to view it again for maximum entertainment.

I went to this movie with my girlfriend the day the NFC/AFC Championship games were being played. One of the very few times I've felt whipped. :p

It was an 'OK' movie. The reason some people are crazy about it is because it's different. There isn't a clear resolution as it has already been spoiled in an earlier post. For some reason, people who want to think of themselves as more than the average movie-goer (READ: Independant Movie Junkies) are trained to believe that anything 'different' is automatically good.

I thought it was a reasonably good piece of movie making...

Somepeople insist on having everything explained to them...movies have to make sense otherwise they can't be real life...oh, wait...it's just a movie, it's not real life...now I'm all confused.

that telephone part where the Mothman called Richard Gere was really cool. I thought that was the highlight of the movie.

I thought it was pretty good as well. Dunno if I'd buy it, as I am very particular about what DVDs I buy, but I'd definitely watch it again.
