Motherfvcking Mechanic I took it to last time over torqued the lugnut, and I had trouble getting it off.
Basically I tried to take it off and the Wheel lock key broke part of the lugnut and part of the key.

How can I take this thing off ? Can I take a Hammer and a Screw Driver ? to break the lugnut in half ?

Thanks.

Basic diagram

Just got back from Pepboys, they said $80 dollars
BWHAHAHAHA..

**UPDATE PART DEUX**
Got the Bad MotherFvcker off. Took it to a Rim specialty shop and they welded my Wheel Lock Key + and additional Lugnut to the damaged lugnut.

I feel so much better now, and now I can put on winter Rims.

are you sure you broke the lugnut?

You wouldnt believe how many people forget to take the rims off and put their tire iron on those nice looking plastic lugnuts...

The metal piece where the wheel key fits into broke off, and now when I try to turn it, the key keeps on popping out.

So, the lugnut is off enough you can get the tire off, or the actual lugnut itself is broke and stuck on? One thing you can do which is a pain in the ass any way you look at it is get a drill thats about half the sie of the lugnut and drill it out. Then get a tap and die set and tap the hole, once you've done that get a bolt and start screwin it in.
That may or may not work, honestly I'm a bit confused about exactly whats broke. Pics?

So you broke the key for your antitheft lugnut. Take it to a shop, they'll weld a nut on and spin it off. Then take those useless antitheft lugs off the other three wheels and throw them in the trash where they belong. Or if you insist on having them, tighten them yourself.

I'm gonna go see if pepboys can take it off.

Any of the above will do the job.

If I were to take a Hammer and Scrwe Driver to it, would it split in half ?
I won't damage the stud would i ?

I don't know if the screwdriver would do it, but worth a try I suppose if you don't have anything else.

The ods of you hitting the threads on the stud are pretty small. Don't sweat it. You don't need to go all the way through the nut. 1/3 of the way and then go after it with vice grips or pipe wrench or somesuch. It'll snap apart the rest of the way from the torque.

The nut isn't exposed, it's within the rim.

agreed

either get some big channel lock pliers, something like gator grips, or a dremel

I'd probably first try the channel locks (vice grips) and if I couldnt do that, then cut if off with a cutting disc on a dremel

It's kinda odd that this happened to you, because just this weekend, I had my first flat tire in my life. I had to pull over halfway in the road, and was trying my damndest to get the spare put on as quickly as possible. I was scared to death that I would break one of the lugnuts off inside the rim, or do something horrible to that effect. Luckily, I had not much trouble getting the lugnuts off after my gf's uncle had air-tightened them a couple of months ago.

Good luck.

I say there is no way in heck you are getting that lug off with a vise grip. That's easily 80+ lb ft on those lugs. Someone work the math on an 8" lever. You'll end up damaging the wheels.

Mccarthy has it right. Weld a nut to it.

No item to weld with.
I'm gonna just drill it.
Purchase another set of wheel locks and pop em on.

Overtightening is such a common problem. My car got the same treatment once and the idiot broke my oil filler cap. Those mechanics don't give a damn about your cars.

Why would the stud need replacing if I just carefully drill off the lugnut ? :D

I'm gonna drill twn sides near the tip and then take a screw driver and hammer to it.

This is how I just did it with mine:

Pound an impact socket (17mm in my case) onto the broken lug. Take off with air wrench.

I've heard of people finding a socket just bigger than the lug, and hammering it on there, and then using an airtool to get it to break loose, but, I don't know how well that'd work and I don't know how easy it'd be to hammer it on. And what if it gets stuck in there on top of the existing one.... could make it worse.
