This is why theives should have a hand cut off. People who are willing to steal someone else's belongings doesn't deserve sympathy.

Had a party one night at my house. We had the garage open so we could go out and smoke. Could not have been more then 15 min between people smoking. I had a mini bulllet bike, air compressor and my leaf blower fuckn stolen out of there. I could not believe it. I mean there were cars parked all over the place. I can't believe anyone would take the chance. I wish to god I would have walked out there while they were in the process of stealing my shit.

I feel for you bro, but this made me laugh. Hope my stuff doesnt get stolen now. 😱

Google search for any ghetto bike shows within your area.
Some of the time the bike shops buy bikes "no questions asked" from people who clearly jack bikes.

Dammit! We live in a nice, quiet suburb - and today I find that my bicycle is stolen! I've always kept my and my wife's bike sitting in the garage- we live in a townhouse and the garage is an open space - think one giant garage for the building (4 units) separated by garage doors - and the garage door next to ours is vacant left unlocked.

Thank god my wife's bike wans't taken - I made sure to lock THAT one up.

Called the local police as well to report it (probably isn't going to do any good, I know) and left a msg for them to call me back. It's a Trek, and there IS a sticker from the bike shop that I got it from - I got it at a place 3 hours away from here (while in college) so that might be a good ID but I don't know what good it'll do . . ..

EDIT:

I am kinda bummed as that was my first "nice" bike that I had, was my transport during college and I just patched it up so we can use it again . . . how likely - and I'm thinking not very, if at all - are my chances of recovering the darn thing?

It's an absolute BAST.

Someone stole my bike also after I graduated and had been working 2yrs. Some mofo stole from outside the train station. I was f0cking gutted 🙁, it set me back £650 also!!!!

I got a nicer 2nd hand bike off ebay and bought £170 worth of padlocks also...

I Lost my bike here a while ago...
Couldn't remember where I put it (bue to alcohol intake)
Could've been stolen though.

Some years ago, mine and the wife's were stolen. Mine was a ragged out GT that had been abused, broken, welded....

The insurance $250 deductible bought her a diamond back. It bought me a real nice trek. Win.

At my campus bikes never seem to get stolen. Heck, there's at least two bikes out on the bike holders on the campus that I know of that have sat there since I arrived 2 years ago. Tires are flat and dry rotted, frames are rusted, but they're still sitting there..

Just wow. I thought bike thefts were some sort of internet legend or something. You know, only happens to professional boxers that wear pink windbreakers.
I remember the asian kid standing there with campus security. The campus 'cop' was writing a report and trying not to laugh, because the asian kid (a student) had locked his bike to the bike stand via the front wheel.

And yes, it had quick-release on the wheel. I guess he was confused about the trust issues, or now the world worse engineer. And while the whole seen was funny, I kind of felt bad for him.

Just field a report w/ the police - I ended up calling 911 after attempting (and leaving a message) the non-emergency line: apparently the non-emergency line is not open to the public and I have to call 911 to report anything. 🙄

Anyhow, gave the police officer a description and serial # - he said there's a good chance it'll show up (!) since I have the serial #: who knew?

Anyhow, at this point I can only wait and hope . . ..

Lol, used to go there quite often. Always tried to remember where I put it because if you don't you may as wel have it stolen. Otherwise, after three months, the police will store it for you and you can go to the "domeinen" to pick it up 🙂

Bike 1: Batavus (belonged to my mother)
Stolen at: School
Found: yes but got stolen again near Koningsplein never to return.

Bike 2: Brand unknown (painted lilac to avoid theft)
Stolen: in front of my home
Found: no

Bike 3: Batavus Sprint Champion (racing bike)
Stolen: Amsterdam East locked with a huge locked chain
Found: nope...

Bike 4: Transport bike (heavy duty)
Stolen: in front of my house cause I forgot to lock it one night...
Found: no way.

Bike 5: Giant Terrago (three years old in perfect condition).
Stolen: in front of the coffeeshop...
Found: no

Well, only 5 then. Not too bad for Amsterdam City 🙂

Ironically I was offered a Trek bike for $30 from some guy who was offering it from the back of a van. Not wanting to pass up on this once in a lifetime opportunity, I reached for my wallet and then realized I only had $10 in cash. 🙁

Felix, I keep thinking your avatar is Howard Stern for some reason.
