motherboards & front panel connectors standards

Why havent the motherboard companies and computer cases havent come up with a standard connector for the the front panel stuff (power switch, hdd, reset switch, etc). Every motherboard has all the pins set diffrent. It be nicee, just to have to plug in one big plug and not have to try to figure out where each connector goes on the motherboard.

what for, I'm just ranting about how the motherboard companies and computer case companies havent come up with a standard connector for the front panel stuff. It annoying having to hook up each one separate. Each motherboard has all the connectors laid out diffrent.

He has a point though. If they standarized, case makers could make a single plug, polarized, standardized connector. 😀

I've seen some OEM boxes that have single connector. But then the motherboard + case is probably specific to that setup. I rather have the flexibility to use whatever case and mobo combo I want for a few minutes of inconvenience.

I have a little LCD/sensor-thingy connected to my HDD and power light pins so it wouldn't work for me. Customizability FTW.
