Well atleast I think it's the motherboard. I'm trying to run an Athalon XP 1900 on an Epox 8K7A+ and it runs fine when the clock speed is 100 but when i tried to set it to 133 to get my 1.6 Ghz I get to the Windows XP screen and then i get a blue screen telling me windows is shutting down my computer to prevent hardware damage. When I switch it back to 100 the puter starts up fine.

Any ideas?

This is probably wrong but did you install XP at 100 clock speed? Maybe it's thinking you are using a different system.

Or are there any jumpers on the mobo?

The processor was underclocked when i first installed xp, but i was able to get it up to run at 1.6 Ghz. My old mobo went bad and I just put in the new one i'm running now, same model and everything. There are jumpers to change it to 133 but when i try doing that i get the same results as with changing it in bios.

I've tried playing around with it some more and I can only get it to boot up running at 1.38 GHz. If I try setting it an anything higher than 115 it won't boot. Anymore ideas would be great.

Does your epox board have any kind of heat safety? Maby when you get the speed up the temp is getting over what its set to.

Also can you set it to boot at correct speed, then boot from a floppy? If so there are some programs that you can put on the floppy to stress your system. I would try and run them. Also check your CPU temp just incase it is way to high, the HSF could be a bit off.

Well thats all I have for now.
