Motherboard supports Crossfire but can only run 1 GPU?

I think it does something when you try to connect two GPU's though

Like the slots switch from x16 to x4 or something, i need to read more into it

somebody said "dont buy that board if you want to use multiple gpu's" and at the time I didnt care much because I wasnt planning on running multiple gpu's

By the looks of it the second slot will indeed be 4x only, which for a mid range GPU will not be a huge deal. I wouldnt put two 680's or 7970's in it though.

what else could i use that slot for besides gpu? i mean what other periphs would use pci-e 4x?

Any PCIe device at all because any PCIe device at all works in a full length slot?

Although in the days of integrated everything, and legacy PCI slots still a staple, mostly it comes down to RAID cards and I/O nuts who want a separate usb controller for every device.
