Motherboard ROM flashing.

Here's a snip of my system detail.

Gigabyte GA6vx-4x (bios revision is F2)
PIII 600Mhz @ 133 hz.

I just received my new 120gb hdd and I found that my motherboard is not able to support that hdd size. I looked around for some solutions. I could either flash my bios rom or to buy a pci ata 133 controller card. The current bios revision is F7.

Question is, if I were to flash my rom, should I just flash it to revision 7? or do it one by one, meaning to say, 3 then 4 then 5 and so on. or just the revision that enables the motherboard to support a hdd bigger than 75 gb.

Also, would getting the pci ata 133 controller card solve the size issue? I know my mobo ata speed max at 66.

I'm afraid to burn the mobo. I hate flashing them. It just scares me.

Any suggestions is very much appreciated.

ok, well i'm sorry but your solutions are much simpler than you thought

1. Flash your bios to the latest bios F8 which is on www.gigabyte.com.tw there is no need to do prior bioses, when you flash it completely replaces what is there so it will include all prior fixes.

2. buy yourself a controller card... assuming you get a new one this would even allow you to break the 137GB (128GiB) barrier.

either way it is rather easy, but if you flash (which is just a much easier way) just take your time and talk to someone who has flashed bios before and really knows what they are doing before you do it. I have never had a problem flashing.
