I've been thinking about a new build, and I have everything that I need except I can't decide on a mobo. Current rig is in sig. Any help is appreciated.

C2D E6600
Corsair Dominator 4x 1GB 8500C5D
eVGA 8800GTX
Zalman 9700

that board looks like the best one out there

id look at all the reviews you can get just to make sure your getting what you need/want

to me 200$ is way too much for a motherboard

I'm looking at the P5B Deluxe for $176.00. I changed the Zalman out for a Zalman CNPS9500 too.

Total at what I am looking at is $1800 and some change.

The Asus boards are nice. I went with a less expensive Gigabyte board and have been quite satisfied with it. S3 and DS3 are both good.

The P5B is Deluxe is a good board, and the only Core2 board I've used. The Abit Quad-GT also looks very nice and comes in under the price of the Asus without any draw backs (at least that I notice).

If you go with the Zalman 9500 make sure you get the AT variant otherwise you'll be stuck at 100% fan speed.

Is the 9500 better or worse than the AC Freezer 7 Pro in your opinion?

Another vote for the Asus P5B-D. I built with a DS3 and had nothing but trouble. Rebuilt with a P5B and it's been smooth as snot. I would buy the commando if I had to do it again. For a cooler I would get the Ultra 120+, which should be out soon.

I built several systems with the DS3, and no cold boot issues (or any other issues). The P5B Dlx is nice, but pricey. Though, with your choice in ram, it seems you like to spend money. So, the P5B Dlx suites your build. No board is worth > $150 IMO. My most expensive board was the DS3, and it was only $120 when I bought it; and I consider that EXPENSIVE. They lowered the CPU prices but jacked up the Mobo prices, lol.

I think the 9500 is easier to install than the Freezer 7 Pro (which uses the stock intel mounting method). The Freezer 7 Pro is great for its price (~$20)... though, you're spending trends should lead you to the Tuniq Tower or Zalman 9700. Otherwise, save money on the ram by dropping to some non-dominator CL4 sticks, and use the saved money on a Tuniq. Dominators are a waste of money, IMO. There are plenty of other choices out there fore less money, and perform just as good and sometimes even better.

I think I will stick with the 9500 over the 9700. I think that's the right choice. BUt we'll see for sure. Thanks for all the input.
