Motherboard reccomendations for a 1700+ (no overclocking)

I am building a new system and need to know what are so good motherboards for an AMD Athlon 1700+. I want to use DDR memory. I don't think I will be doing any overclocking. Things I don't need/want: RAID, on board sound, ethernet.

getting a board without sound is quite the feat... you can just disable those things. Anyways, the nforce board are good, but have integrated sound(which is better than most sound cards) and possible integrated video. You can get the famous or infamous(depends who you ask)ECS board. Most likely you go for a kt266a or kt333 depending on the ddr type you want.

By the info you gave I would say a kt266 board. Look at the gigabyte board Gigabyte 7VTXH or the popular EPoX EP-8KHA+

happy hunting

I thought the EPOX board was a good overclocker and that is what made it great. So the EPOX is good right out of the box?

I would give the new abit nforce board a look, I would alos take a gander at soltek drv4 and drv5. For the price nothing beats the ECS board... but be prepared to troubleshoot

hate to say this but the soyo dragon + is great.

yeah it has onboard sound(better than most cards) and onboard LAN(no issues)
and also has raid(or if you want to control add'l devices down the road.

all-in-all, might as well get something that will free up your pci slots

better yet, dont put anything in your pci slots.
