Thanks for the review; I find it very useful.

I think some people really do not understand what this review is and are seeing it from a one-dimensional perspective.
So to those people I say: "Post a review for all to see and criticize, which compares mobo manufacturers on *all* points, which
can be used as a reference for ANY user or purchaser--server, desktop, enterprise, overclocker, etc.".

<< Some brands I know much better then others, and soyo isn't one of my strong suits. I've known about them for a long time, but never use their boards much, they just don't stand out.

DFI I know quite a bit about, what more would you want included? I was kinda tired at that point in writing.

DFI made a series of 486 boards and early Pentium boards that were good for only one thing:

Doorstops

Its been way too long since I've dealt with DFI boards because of that experience (1997, to be exact). If they've improved, wonderful! They, Chaintech and one other manufacturer (I think it may have been MSI or ECS) that caused us to go with M Technology at the store I worked at. Fact is, M Technology made the first 486 board I really wanted (M418). However, I digress yet again.

I guess I wanted more history is all... I started working in a computer store in 1991 as an assistant technician, and left the computer industry in 1998 as a Sales Manager... Technology wise, it was a great time in my life. I miss those days, when the 80286, 80386SX, 80386DX, 80486SX, 80486DX, 80486DX2 and all the other processors (Centaur, Cyrix, IBM and AMD) were brand new. Your article allowed me to reminisce somewhat, so I became greedy for more. :)

Either way, like I said previously... It was a really good article. Maybe you could make this a yearly thing, kinda like a state of the board address? :)

Well, I only went back to p2, late p1 with the super 7. I could have went back further, but there used to be so many brands back then it wasn't funny. Most didn't make it to today. I still have a intel 486DX2 cpu somewhere, not sure what to do with it.

I was thinking of maybe a refresh on the article later on, not sure how long though, a year would be good. I'll probably add more details in, since this one took so bloody long.

DFIs are much better now :)
They switched their focus to stability a while back.

I don't really think this is an OBJECTIVE ranking list...

Is there any such thing in the world?? From my experience everything is subjective!
Like everything else in life, take what you will from this list, disregaurd what you don't agree with,
and move on!

People here need to lighten up and try to see things holistically.
